...I stayed at this hotel for work purposes on Monday 3rd March in a single room on the sixth floor. We paid £70 B&B.
My initial reaction was to be extremely negative about this hotel, however, on reflection i think it is important to point out some of its good points. I would not say it was an enjoyable experience, however, it was adequate and i've had worse!
On the plus side -
This is a proper city centre hotel - right in the centre of town, close to shops. If you are visiting Birmingham to shop, this is perfect.
The kettle and toilet were clean, which is always a good start!
The member of staff who booked me in was pleasant and helpful. There was an error with our booking, we had 4 rooms booked, but only two of us were on the list. She gave me the list to check through - which had other guest's names and personal details...

Advantages: Relative isolation from London & Home Counties Disadvantages: Equally relatively tedious journey to get there
...In view of the impending Suffolk review that I'm working on, I thought it only fair to make sure my Norfolk one was as up-to-date as possible, and I've taken this occasion to add in some of my favourite pictures.
Please note, this is not a travel guide to Norwich and Norfolk, just some demented jottings from me, a long-time visitor. You know how it is, whenever you go some place frequently, you always sideline things to see, waiting for the arrival of the mystical 'Round Tuit' (as in "I'll do that when I get a........")
I live in West London, and my In-Laws live in Norfolk – therefore I go there quite often. Speaking to other people in my neck of the woods reveals that hardly any of them have been there. This set me thinking why this is, when Norfolk is relatively close to London, well, in distance at least.
Travelling time...

Advantages: Everything about this hotel Disadvantages: Christmas time Parties
...The Thistle Birmingham City Hotel is situated a few miles away from Birmingham International Airport, easily accessible from the major motorway network and close to New Street Station. I stayed at the hotel for 8weeks on a business trip and really enjoyed my stay there.
The rooms are very clean, its well maintained. Staff very friendly and helpful. During Christmas time there are loads of parties and the in house guests have no flexibility in the food timings which was a major draw back. Food was very good and so is the bar always well stocked!
You can have a short walk for your shopping to the City centre, Bull Ring and the Convention Centre.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and would return again....

I booked this room via active hotels for £40, room only. For only one night- and we checked in 20:00, it was acceptable. Bathroom was newly fitted, clean and roomy. Bed and beddings were very nice. But other than that, the hotel has a dated and dirty... more
