Advantages: Fine performances all round, especially Ludwig and Corelli Disadvantages: Callas not in best voice
This is often considered one of the finest recordings of Bellini's opera "Norma". That opera is one of the best 'bel canto' operas of the nineteenth century. Norma, the soprano title character, has a secret relationship with the tenor Pollione, a Roman and thus an enemy to her people. She loves Pollione but he loves another priestess, the mezzo Adalgisa. Eventually it transpires that Norma has the power to decide the fate of Pollione and Adalgisa. Pollione is sentenced to death for being found on sacred ground (hoping to elope with/abduct Adalgisa). But rather than point the finger at Adalgisa for breaking her vows Norma admits to breaking her own vows with Pollione. Pollione, seeing Norma's nobility - she had felt pity for Adalgisa having intended to reveal the young priestess' betrayal - realises how much he loved her. They both mount ...

Cadbury Bournville Old Jamaica (180g bar)
Look what I found on the shelves at Morrisons! Well, I checked with Ciao that I could review this bar. They replied that I must point out at the beginning of this review that it is about the new bar and not the old one as this is the general topic for the product. Cadbury discontinued Old Jamaica a few years ago but now it is back by popular demand. Hooray!!! The details on the back of the wrapper say that, like the original bar, they are still using cocoa beans shipped from Ghana and the much loved raisin and rum flavours. It then goes on to say that Bournville are proud to unveil a new twist on an old favourite. I am going to have to delve deep into my memory to try and establish what this ?new twist? is. Advantages: Right on the beach, great views Disadvantages: None...eventually
We'd had some pretty good hotels on our trip to Andalucia, and we hoped that the hotel we had picked for our final three days wouldn't be any different. We booked the HOTEL PERLA MARINA, in the town of NERJA, through bancotel.com. This is a Spanish based travel site whereby you purchase 'cheques' for 50 euros each. Depending on the hotel, season etc, a room costs between 1-3 cheques per night. This can mean savings of over 60% in some cases.
Being the intrepid bargain hunter (some would say tight-fisted git) that I am, I managed to book a series of 3 and 4 star hotels for 50 euros. This hotel was no exception.
