...areas with shops, and they are always excellent to wander around. Norwood, Burnside, Hyde Park, Unley to name a few, have storelined streets that sell everything from household goods to clothes to alcohol to jewelry. They are all easy to reach, and easy to find.

Adelaide has a very nice museum located on NorthTerrace. It isn't quite as big as some museums I've been in, but it is a good size and it's easy to spend an afternoon looking around. It's got the typical Australian attractions, Aboriginal historical items, Animals and Birds, Dinosaur bones, and the kids favorite attraction a model of a giant squid that stretches over two floors...

Advantages: Well laid out, the Barossa Wine Region Disadvantages: Travelling time
...the journeys can be long. If I remember rightly I met one person who'd taken the bus from Adelaide to Melbourne and it was a ten hour journey though admittedly through some stunning scenery.
Likewise if travelling by car you must plan your route in detail and realise it will take time. I met a family who'd driven from Perth to Adelaide - it had taken them over three days!! If you drive north up the famous Stuart highway be sure to ask the information centre for details on outback driving. And don't forget they drive on the same side of the road as us so consider hiring a car - the roads in Adelaide are well laid out and easy to navigate.

Advantages: Too many to list here... Disadvantages: Too far away from the UK...

For those on a better budget than I am ever on, Adelaide has loads of hotels of all star-ratings. There’s the Hilton International in Victoria Square and the Hyatt Regency on NorthTerrace for those who like to live in luxury, but of course there are also plenty of smaller/cheaper hotels, motels and lodges. I personally prefer to stay in hostels, not only because they’re so much cheaper, but also because you can actually get to mix with people in a hostel…
~THE CITY IN DETAIL~
Let me start my tour of Adelaide on King William Street, the main thoroughfare through the city, which runs in a North...

Edinburgh is one of those cities near enough for us to visit for a weekend, and with enough attractions and shops to keep us all busy. So, we tend to go a couple of times a year.
I usually book online, and because I don’t know the city well, it’s... more
I presume that most readers will be familiar with the other Guild Wars games, Prophecies (the original), Factions and Nightfall. Just a quick word for those who are not, Guild Wars is a MMORG, somewhat similar to World of Warcraft, but without... more
