I was travelling from Frankfurt,Germany towards Tampa,Florida. On my flight I had to change planes in Detroit,Michigan, one of their home airports. When the plane landed around 5 p.m. we had a 40 minute delay, because of thunderstorms. They announced that all flights from Detroit were not affected, because no one could get out right now.My plane from Detroit to Tampa was right on time at around 7.15 p.m. or so I thought. The plane left the gate and the captain announced that we had to wait a little on the runway before we will get clearance.Around 9.30 p.m. we were still on the runway and the captain decided to get back to the gate to refuel.About an hour later they announced that our flight was canceled and we should leave the plane and proceed to the airlines reservation desk.Well about 10,000 people were stuck in Detroit,no hotel rooms were available and we werenīt even given the usual `Airline-Overnight-Suvival-Kit`.I had to stand in line for an hour and a half. Before I got to the back of the line I asked some guy at the Information desk about a possibility to get a room somewhere. His answer was rude: maybe you can spend a night in jail...That was it for me.I wemt on to the back of the line and after 1 and a half hours I was finally able to reschedule my flight. That guy behind the counter offered me the same flight just one day later.Unacceptable.A better connection?None available. After several minutes of discussions he was finally able to get me on a flight to Atlanta operated by Delta. And a connection to Tampa with Northwestern again.Durin my stay in the US I tried everything to get in touch with someone from Northwestern.I even faxed them the case, because I did not get any compensation for all my inconviniences or any excuses.Even at the Nortwestern Office at Tampa or Sarassota, they were neither willing, nor able to help me with my problem or to get in touch with someone who was able to help me.The return flight was without a problem, except the normal rude crew on board of their flights.I will never ever take a flight operated by Northwestern or KLM again.Better give your business to someone who cares about customers like US Air (they handed me peanuts at Detroit, while every food joint was closed and Northwestern didnīt seem to care),American or Lufthansa.
