Winding cobbled streets lined with fascinating little shops, and a modern shopping centre with all the high street names; an area of medieval buildings leaning crookedly one against the other; more pubs and more churches than any other city in England (and many of the pubs have excellent beer!); a cathedral of great architectural merit; a vibrant cultural life with a number of concerts, plays and other performances occurring daily in the many available venues (often converted churches); a bustling market; a huge selection of restaurants of all varieties and prices, including the wonderful Waffle House - these are the major attractions of Norwich. However, the city is also a good starting point to explore the other attractions of Norfolk: the tranquil Broads which one navigates slowly by boat; seaside resorts such as quiet Cromer and brash Great Yarmouth; Wells, a fascinating place of pilgrimage since the Middle Ages; the very upmarket market town of Burnham Market, where excellent food is to be had in the 17th century Hoste Arms hotel. I have been in Norwich several times in the last few years and always enjoy returning!
