...ClarkeQuay is one of the most popular riverside haunts in Singapore and it is not hard to fathom out why. It features five blocks of restored warehouses and is home to hip entertainment -Singapore style- a Sunday flea market, eateries, and a wide mix of shops. The Sunday Flea Market is a big fun event with street musicians, baloon sculpturing, face and henna painting and more than 100 stalls selling a wide array of antiques, arts and crafts, and other odds and ends.If you cant make it on a Sunday dont worry at other days of the week you will little shops selling second hand goods, antiques, silk wear, and accessories.

Advantages: Pleasant surroundings, good food, central location Disadvantages: Not exactly authentic Singapore
...I was fortunate enough to spend a number of weeks working in Singapore earlier this year. Having spend some of my childhood there, I was consistently amazed throughout my trip at how much the city has changed since my last visit in the 1980s. ClarkeQuay, quite simply, is an area which is almost unrecognisable these days. Named after Andrew Clarke, the second governor of Singapore, and sometime governor of The Straits Settlements in the late 19th century, it was once, along with nearby Boat Quay, the epicentre of Singapore's world of commerce. Advantages: Great location. Excellent service that isn't too Singaporean! New rooms with excellent features! Disadvantages: You will pay for the pleasure!
...For those who have been keeping up with my Mandarin Oriental exploits then this is the third installment. Today I shall review one of Singapore?s finest five star hotels and let you into the world of Mandarin Oriental Singapore.
I have stayed at a variety of hotels in Singapore but none have come as close to the perfect stay that you get at MO. I last stayed here in 2007 when the hotel was just branded as The Oriental, however Mandarin Oriental have since renamed the property under their full brand, just to make you aware in case you read reviews on either of the properties, they are in fact the same. Just look for the ?fan? logo of the company.
I was staying in Singapore in between a trip from Malaysia to Australia and given my love for MO I knew this would be a good choice. Suffice to say I was not disappointed.
