Ideal for Coventry City fans (allegedly)

Advantages: Decent room, friendly service
Disadvantages: A bit out from the centre of the city

'''INTRODUCTION'''

Travelling to Coventry to one of my company's offices for the first time, I picked the Novotel thanks to our booking system which immediately pointed me to the cheapest option available. Some way out of town, I wasn't expecting it to be anything memorable, but I was at least hopeful of it giving me a decent nights rest. Here is what I found.

'''LOCATION'''

Apparently it's 10 minutes ...
...and a walking distance from the Ricoh Arena, home of Coventry Town Football Club. It doesn't say whether this is 10 minutes is walking or driving. We were told there was a curry house about a 15 minute walk away, right from the hotel, under the railway bridge and straight on down Longford Road, Nashaa. We went there and I have to say it was excellent and I'd highly recommend it if you're staying in the area. There were also various takeaways and ... more

...ago I stayed in the Novotel, Coventry and during my stay was ill which meant I couldn’t eat what I considered at that point to be one of the scrummiest breakfasts ever. As you can imagine, sitting opposite my other half watching him munch away while I writhed around in agony was too much. I have spent the period inbetween then and now looking for an excuse to return. A Shania Twain concert at the NEC combined with the opportunity to see some of my ...

BOOKING The Novotel chain belongs to the French chain, Accor, who are also credited with bringing us, among other outlets, Sofitel (Luxury), Mercure, Ibis, (Budget) and Formule 1 (Ultra budget). Like most reputable hotel chains, rooms can be booked on-line, and this hotel offers an internet rate of £45 per room ...

Would you "Hallam and Eve" it?

Advantages: Good food, free parking, ideal for the city centre and Sheffield Hallam University
Disadvantages: No wake-up call or newspaper, limited free parking, if you don't post your ticket you risk getting clamped

and adjacent bar, complete with Wide-screen Sky TV and pool table. Check-in was swift and friendly. I was offered a choice of smoking or non-smoking, this was in stark contrast to Novotel, Maastricht where I had to go down on bended knees. I completed a comprehensive registration form requiring details of almost everything but my bra size and produced the credit card for authorisation. You are responsible for stating your early morning call time and what newspaper you want. I was then issued with the room key card and form for charging extras to the room, and despatched with directions to the 5th floor. THE ROOM I could be forgiven for thinking I had been transported back to the Novotel Coventry, the room was identical; the Coventry outlet was being refurbished, but I didn?t see any evidence of that here. The hotel is on five floors ...
