...There is a wide selecion of pubs in dusseldorf so I will only recommend a few of the best. To begin with I will recommend a few pubs in the altstadt. The first is McLaughlins Irish Pub. This is widely regarded as the premium Irish pub in Dusseldorf. This is partly because of the wide selsection of nationalities of the pubs customers. it is easy here to walk in and immediatley find someone to talk about, usually in english. The staff here are very friendly, and the owner Tom is alwaays ready to welcome visitors to dusseldorf and give them a few tips of whats on. Every Thursday here is a student night but everyone not just students are welcome, the beer is half price and there is always a great atmosphere. The second is Mai Tai which is a Thai cocktail bar located in the altstadt, which serves a large range of cocktails at reasonalbe...

..., a twenty minute ride from the city centre. This is widely considered to be the finest resturant in Dusseldorf, again with a ´surperb wine menu but with prices reflecting the quality and service. While this is the best a meal for two with wine cand easily run into a four figure sum in DM, which is in excess of 350 pounds. The final greman resturant is the Weinhaus Tante Anna, which is located in the Dusseldorf Altstadt. This resturant boasts quality german cusine and an impressive wine menu and is moderately expensive. Finally in this section I would recommend tha japanese resturant edo´s which s located accross the Rhine in the subarb of Oberkassel. In a city of many Japanese people this is considered to be the finest Japanses cusine and again is rather pricy.
Some resturants which fit both groups are Block House, located in the Altstadt...

...Dusseldorf is one of the most attractive and upmarket cities in Germany. Partly this is because of the international makeup of the city. Many firms, in particular Japanese firms have made Dusseldorf their European base, and this toghther with the international Messe(trading fair)provides a very international outlook. Not being able to speak german is not a disadvantage as much as in other german cities, with most people in shops, resturants and civil officals speaking at least passable english. Possibly the two greatest attractions in dusseldorf are the Altstadt(old city) and the Konigssalle, which is one of the premier shopping streets worldwide. The altstadt is a large pedestrian area containing shops, resturants and bars, and is known as the longest bar in the world, with the area covering more than three square kilometers...
