...flights are available from Manchester to Hamburg with Lufthansa and British Midland at a cost of approx £150. Flights are also available from Birmingham and I know that there are many direct flights each day from London with British Airways and Lufthansa (the national German airline).
In November 2004 Air Berlin will launch daily services between Manchester and Hamburg for only 39Euros one way; a new bargain airline that is too cheap to miss!
Another great way is to sail between the UK and Hamburg on an overnight cruise and arrive along the river Elbe in Hamburg to true pomp and circumstances including marching bands and confetti!
A taxi from the airport to the city centre will cost approx 20Euros and the journey takes approx 20 minutes (30 in rush hour).

...and the service operates on smallish places with only approx. 80 seats so attention to detail for passengers is high with exceptional cabin crew. Flights starts at about £130+ if you book well in advance (you don't even have to stay over a Saturday night to ensure that you receive the best deal).
Hamburgairport is located quite close to the city centre an you can get directly into city by bus or taxi. A taxi journey takes approx. 20/30 minutes and typically costs 25 Euros for the heart of the city. You can also travel by boat from the UK (I think it is from Hull) and this takes you directly to the port of Hamburg on the river Elbe.

...~~~HAMBURG MARRIOTT HOTEL~~~
As well as having stayed at the Renaissance Hotel in Hamburg several times, I have also stayed at the Renaissance sister hotel, the Marriott, located on ABC Strasse in the exclusive shopping and dining part of the city of Hamburg. The hotel is well located and transfer time from the airport (Hamburg) is under 20 minutes or so with taxi fares also being under 20Euros (£13-£15). Just outside o f the hotel you will find a glittering array of upmarket shops and small boutiques and the hotel is located in a very quiet area and all of the rooms are exceptionally quiet.
Arriving at the hotel:
As you enter the hotel, the lobby is sumptuous and well-kept, and there are always plenty of bellhops to help with your bags. Check-in is always smooth and painless, and there is a good selection of local interest...
