After viewing all the hotels that were on offer I was not pleased by what I saw the only half decent looking on was the Novotel, Heelands, Milton Keynes which is owned by the Accor Business & Leisure Hotels Group. This particular hotel looked half decent on the internet and for £65.00 seemed ok. This included a double bed so my girlfriend could come along as well (oh I know what your thinking!) and breakfast.
When the day had arrived to go to the event the hotel was really easy to find just off the M1 junction 14 and follow the A509 towards Milton Keynes town centre just past the MK one shopping centre, how convient for my girlfriend who made me stop before we got to the hotel.
When we finally got to the hotel, I was surprised it looked new and had plenty of parking. Once all our bags were together we entered the lobby and were very pleased. The bar and restaurant was to the right and looked very trendy and modern and the reception was to the left and had a plasma screen and just a very good feeling about the place.
Of course we headed straight for the reception to book in. The lady at the reception didn’t greet us very well, I had to say hello first and getting a reply out of her was hard work, she spoke to me with a moody attitude and explained very little about the hotel. She just told me to sign a form and told me which floor my room was on. Normally even in shit hotels the receptionist explains what time breakfast is and also says enjoy your stay. Really that was the only down side to the hotel.
We were on the second floor room 242. We got to our room and it was card entry. Well once we entered it was a big shock the room was perfect. The bed was king size it had a little lounge with a sofa bed, the bathroom was big it had a bath/shower. Lovely marble sink worktop. The toilet was in another section to the room but it was not a problem. The standard of the room for the price I paid on a weekend was very good.
The room was provided with all the standard consumables like biscuits, tea, coffee and the bathroom had shampoo, shower gel and two soaps. The only other matter was the towels were very small. It seemed we had plenty of towels but none suitable for having a bath or shower. The hotel had a lovely swimming pool and a gym as well which I used both facilities. The hotel was great, even the room had about 20 sky channels plus at an extra cost you could have the usual movies plus playstation games. WOW.
The sleep that night was very nice, it was comfortable and extra pillows were provided and stored in a cupboard. The room was very modern and very clean. In the morning when it came to booking out, we went down to reception and THANK GOD that horrible receptionist was not their. This time I was greeted with a smile and very helpful person. We didn’t stay for breakfast because we had to leave early, but I had a quick look and it looked lovely, well also there was allot of people eating the full English and continental breakfast. UMMMMMMMM.
Advantages: Very clean. Large spacious rooms with sofa. Well decorated. Pool and sauna. Huge bed. Very friendly bar staff. Great food. Disadvantages: Advertised on website that they are a mile from Milton Keynes station. Considerably longer. Needed to get a cab. Small towels. Tricksy pay to view. No mini bar. Odd little cupboard toilet. Tiny towels. Poor reception staff. Pool closed by 11pm.
I needed to spend a night in Milton Keynes as my wife and I were travelling up from London to see a show at the theatre then going further north the next morning. Manage to get quite a good deal at lastminute.com, only £49.00 for one night, based on a room only fee.
After a hectic journey up to Milton Keynes by coach due to rail engineering I was disappointed to find that the hotel is not within walking distance from the station, even though it ... ...a cab depending whether you are travelling from the city centre or the station. The hotel seems quite modern, pretty characterless from the outside as most business hotels seem to be. The foyer was large and open plan, leading on to the bar and restaurant to the right. It didn't seems very disabled friendly as even one had to walk up a few steps to even get to the ground floor rooms.
Check in went smoothly although I agree with the other review ...

Advantages: very comfortable and friendly place to stay Disadvantages: expensive food in the restaurant
I went to this hotel the weekend before Valentines Day with my partner and we had a wonderful time. We were very well-looked after in the hotel by the staff. We walked into the rom and was amazed by what we saw as there was a kingsize bed, a tv, a sofa bed, a bathroom and toilet and other great facilities. At night the bedroom was nice and comfy to sleep in with curtains that blocked out loads of light. If you do choose to go to this hotel make sure ... ...pool and the sauna room. There is also a gym and other great facilities. The Hotel is 5 minutes away from all local ammenities, but having a car in this area is a must as it is just off a dual carriageway. the shopping centre and restaurants are absolutely fantastic as it makes a nice day out for all the familyn to enjoy. ...

Herein lies the health warning; getting into rounds in this hotel is NOT a good idea; we were charging everything to our rooms, and ended up with a £160 bar bill between four of us.
In contrast, the MiltonKeynesNovotel charges slightly more for its rooms, but offers a greater selection of food at far better prices and MUCH cheaper alcohol.
CONFERENCE FACILITIES
The Hilton MK has 16 meeting rooms the largest holding 300 people, the smallest just 16, with varying degrees in between, so something for everyone.
COST
The first time I paid £88 bed and breakfast booked through their website, (www.hilton.com), the second, £78 B&B booked directly with the hotel. In contrast, a colleague staying as a guest of the OU stumped up a staggering £120 room only (discounted rate ...
