Novotel - had a birthday party to go to in Milton Keynes recently. The person who's birthday it was put forward four hotels to stay in. I looked on the net at the hotels that were put forward, just to see what the hotels were like and what they offered. I like a bit of quality and don't like slumming it. My bed is very important to me people.

After viewing all the hotels that were on offer I was not pleased by what I saw the only half decent looking on was the Novotel, Heelands, Milton Keynes which is owned by the Accor Business & Leisure Hotels Group. This particular hotel looked half decent on the internet and for £65.00 seemed ok. This included a double bed so my girlfriend could come along as well (oh I know what your thinking!) and breakfast.

When the day had arrived to go to the event the hotel was really easy to find just off the M1 junction 14 and follow the A509 towards Milton Keynes town centre just past the MK one shopping centre, how convient for my girlfriend who made me stop before we got to the hotel.

When we finally got to the hotel, I was surprised it looked new and had plenty of parking. Once all our bags were together we entered the lobby and were very pleased. The bar and restaurant was to the right and looked very trendy and modern and the reception was to the left and had a plasma screen and just a very good feeling about the place.

Of course we headed straight for the reception to book in. The lady at the reception didn’t greet us very well, I had to say hello first and getting a reply out of her was hard work, she spoke to me with a moody attitude and explained very little about the hotel. She just told me to sign a form and told me which floor my room was on. Normally even in shit hotels the receptionist explains what time breakfast is and also says enjoy your stay. Really that was the only down side to the hotel.

We were on the second floor room 242. We got to our room and it was card entry. Well once we entered it was a big shock the room was perfect. The bed was king size it had a little lounge with a sofa bed, the bathroom was big it had a bath/shower. Lovely marble sink worktop. The toilet was in another section to the room but it was not a problem. The standard of the room for the price I paid on a weekend was very good.

The room was provided with all the standard consumables like biscuits, tea, coffee and the bathroom had shampoo, shower gel and two soaps. The only other matter was the towels were very small. It seemed we had plenty of towels but none suitable for having a bath or shower. The hotel had a lovely swimming pool and a gym as well which I used both facilities. The hotel was great, even the room had about 20 sky channels plus at an extra cost you could have the usual movies plus playstation games. WOW.

The sleep that night was very nice, it was comfortable and extra pillows were provided and stored in a cupboard. The room was very modern and very clean. In the morning when it came to booking out, we went down to reception and THANK GOD that horrible receptionist was not their. This time I was greeted with a smile and very helpful person. We didn’t stay for breakfast because we had to leave early, but I had a quick look and it looked lovely, well also there was allot of people eating the full English and continental breakfast. UMMMMMMMM.
