A year ago I found myself on a spur of the moment road trip to sheffield, i needed to find a place to stay and Novotel stood out from the rest as it was a large building hosting what would appear to be many rooms, always a must when arriving unnanounced.

From the outside it appeared to be a high priced nicely maintained hotel, which made me think it would have a price to match.

On closer inspection the hotel sported a nice large heated indoor swimming pool situated strangley enough behind glass panes in the lobby, the lobby was however very large and included a dining area and bar, all of which were very smart, but not so much so that i felt underdressed or uncomfortable.

The cost of one double room for the night was £60, and one would imagine the same for a twin which included a full english breakfast, i felt this price reached the criteria of someone like myself, travelling on a budget that could buy comfort and a bit of luxury but without going over the top.
It was a fair price and clearly the amenities were up to standard.

My room was extremely spacious and the bed must have been king size, the bathroom facilities were excellent and the room was uncluttered but provided everything you needed for a comfortable stay, Colour television, Sky Tv channels, drinks facilities, telephone, en suite bathroom providing shampoo, shower gel and towels.
The view looked over Sheffield Hallam university and surrounding sheffield with a large window, blacked out from the outside for privacy.

It hosted everything you would expect from a high priced hotel, such as room service facilities, leisure facilities (included in the price), a large restaurant where you can take your evening meal and a nicely situated bar. I ate at the reaturant and was impressed with the service, food and most of all the prices. The menu was inexpensive and hosted a range of interesting cuisine suitable for all tastes, My meal cost in total £10 and included a pasta dish of reasonable portion and a beverage. The layout of the resturant had a nice balance, it was a comfortable surrounding and a nice family environment, but remained classy and proffessional at the same time, mirroring the hotel ambiance.

The situation of the hotel was very accesible and no sooner were you out the door than you were on the main road surrounded by bars pubs and restaurants, just incase the hotels offers weren't preferencial.

The car park although somewhat small, was exclusive for residents and held no extra charge, there is little need to move your vehicle once parked as everything is accesible by foot. You may even feel tempted to use the public transport to get around which is also very accessible.

The breakfast provided was superb, the staff couldn't do enough to ensure you had everything you wanted, it's buffet style dining meant you could eat as much of whatever you liked and if they didn't have what you wanted they'd go and make it. I ate well that morning.

The staff on the whole were fantastic and certainly the level of morale is very high, on arrival their were no spaces left, so the receptionist offered to move his car so we could use his space. The facilities were impeccable clearly due to high maintenance from the staff and the atmosphere was very very welcoming.

If i find myself needing a place to stay i won't hesitate to use Novotel again, and i recommend you do the same.

Have used the Novotel in Coventry and one in Maastricht - will remember this if I ever need somewhere to stay in Sheffield. Sue

I stayed in one off the M1 near Derby a couple of years ago and thought it really good. Nice, thorough op. Kim :)

I've never used Novotel but will certainly consider them in future should the need arise!
