This brought Bath extra trade as followers of the family would want to stay in the famous house for £140 P.A. The crescent was built purely to attract people from Bristol to Bath. When you travelled from Bristol, the crescent would be the first attraction that you would see. The crescent is a very grand building and soon as Bath extended, all houses were built like the crescent. In the 18th Century Bath became a very rich and popular City where the rich and famous would dine and be treated to luxuries such as the theatre.

Advantages: History, beautiful buildings, compact centre, individual shops,good places to eat! Disadvantages: On the pricey side, a bit hard to get to, hilly (but has Shopmobility).
.... I also think it's probably aimed more at adults than children, especially the talk, although children might enjoy looking round in less detail.
The Centre is situated in Gay St, just up from the city centre, and is open all year with shorter hours in winter. The current admission price (Feb 05) is £4.65 for adults, £3.95 for senior/student and £2.45 for a child, under 6s are free and a family ticket (2 adults, up to 4 children) is £12.50.
ROYAL CRESCENT
This has to be one of the most famous sights of Bath. In the upper part of town with great views, it was built by John Wood the Younger in the 1760s and with its sweep of columns it is as impressive in the flesh as its pictures suggest. Advantages: Lots to see and do! Disadvantages: Plenty of walking (if unable) too much to see in a weekend!

The famous attractions of Bath include; the Roman Baths, the Pump Room, Bath Abbey, No1 Royal Crescent, the Assembly Rooms and the Museum of Costume. The Jane Austen Centre is also worth a visit.
Bath has a high number of independent shops. This gives the city its own unique character and makes it one of the most popular shopping destinations outside of London. The city centre is well known for designer clothing and antiques.
Bath is mad about food so you can find every pot, pan and gadget you could ever want within the city's stores, not to mention fine cheese shops and mouthwatering delicatessens.
