Advantages: Loverly scenery and beautiful building Disadvantages: The staff
Me and my boyfriend stayed here a few months ago at the Breadsall Priory in derbyshire. We had a look on the interntet to see what the hotel was like and we thought it was a resonable hotel so we wasnt expecting anything spectacular, we were just going to have a relaxed weekend to get away from family and friends.
As we took a walk around the grounds we were totally amazed by the grounds sightings as they were truely amazing and gorgous and the building itself was as the original was with hardly and new construction work on it and the place itself held a wonderful history. The bar is in part of the original building and it is fantastic with all the old stone walls and fire places.
If you like golf then this is defanatly the place to go for a game, it has a great course that goes on for miles and miles and is surrounded by beautiful ...
Advantages: Great Hotel with Good Food Disadvantages: Can be on the Pricey side
The Priory Bay Hotel is an independent country house hotel located by the sea on the Isle of Wight. I stayed for two nights midweeek whilst on business. It has a website (www.priorybay.co.uk)which has lots of details about the hotel including tariff although I discovered that when I telephoned the hotel to book that I was offered a principal room for the same price as a standard.
That said the hotel is not inexpensive, 2006 tariff for a single person in a Principal room starts at £80 per night low season rising to £150 per night peak season. I stayed Low season and thought that the hotel was excellent value the high season prices are expensive.
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, the Manager seemed to know all the guests by name within a few hours of checking in. The Hotel is housed in a lovely building with lots ...
Advantages: It's a unique venue with beautiful rooms Disadvantages: It needs to try a bit harder to justify the ridiculous prices
the last thing I'd want to do on a Friday night would be to go to the airport and fly off again. So we hopped in the car, I think hubby had even packed my bag and had refused to tell me where we were going and about an hour later we arrived at the Priory.
It's fair to say that Butley Priory is a real 'one of a kind' sort of place. It's housed in a wing of what was once a 14th Century monastery, built of flint and chalk and a bit of an architectural marvel. It's often used as a wedding venue and has even been featured on British TV's 'The Hotel Inspector'. I believe the inspector told the owner to wise up and start taking her business more seriously or get out of it altogether - probably a pretty fair assessment as I don't particularly want to go on holiday and experience a venue based around the arrogance of an owner with her own personality ...
