We were late starters to foreign travel due to one hundred and one reasons in our life. When we finally booked to fly abroad it was to Yugoslavia. As we arrived home from the travel agents the news on our television showed the start of the war out there. After many months we finally got our money back and picked Malta. That was an excellent holiday, but another story.
Having whetted our appetite for foreign travel we browsed the brochures on our return from Malta wanting to pick somewhere we really fancied for the next year. We had relatives who had gone to the Greek islands in the past so somehow or other we ended up picking Lefkas, which is one the Ionian Islands of Greece.

My boyfriend and I wanted a cheap holiday - a week in the sun where we could relax and do not a lot basically!
We booked an internet deal through Thompson Holidays for Ł190 each (incl. flights, transfers and accomodation) for a week in Self Catering appartments.
Our flights were from Birmingham to Thessaloniki (which is the nearest airport to Halkidiki). The flight took around 3 hours and we then had an hour and a half transfer from the airport to our resort - Fourka.
Halkidiki is split into three penisulars, Kassandra, Sithonia and Mount Athos. These are near the north of main land Greece and are surrounded by the Aegean Sea.
Kassandra and Sithonia are supposed to be the livliest of the three, although they are not busy or crowded.
Mount Athos is a Monks Republic and is usually only seen by people from sea.

Bought as Ex-Demonstration for Ł200, Possibly the best buy of HI-FI equiptment I have ever owned, Although this is the CD-6000OSE KI, It is built on the OSEs Design, it has some upgrades to the circuitry and copper plateing to the chassis.
The sound quality is very good, brings out loads of detail I never knew was on my CDs. I previously used a Marantz CD 52 SE, I bought about 10 years ago and was time for something up to date. I still use the 52 in my bedroom, and It's still going strong with out a hitch and plays CDRs with out a problem.
It was the fact that the CD 52 has been so reliable that the new player I was to buy would probably to be a Marantz, and after serching the internet and reading reviews I would have loved to buy the CD17, but funds were not available. So I happend to see in a local HI-FI shop ...
