Upon entering the reception one is greeted by a soothing sound of trickling water incorporated in a central water pool feature and bridge, potted tropical plants and comfy cane chairs scattered around giving the feel of a laid back relaxed atmosphere, far from business like or too formal.

...Star Hotel. Incase you haven’t figured out by now Dubai is booming with an abundance of 5–Star and 4-Star Hotels. There are also plenty of deals to be found in many of 3-5 Star Hotels too, so you don’t have to pay the earth for luxury and quality service! In the heart of the city, there are also plenty of budget hotels to be found. We stayed in a 4-Star Deluxe Hotel (OasisBeachHotel) located on the picturesque Jumeriah beach strip; I highly recommend this hotel to anyone!
Although Dubai is, an Islamic city it’s outlook is very modern and women do not have to cover their faces. Tourism is a part of life and Dubai has liberal attitudes, with a plethora of multi-cuisine restaurants, bars, clubs, where alcohol is freely available. Advantages: comfortable, beach location, better value than newer 5 star hotels, good customer service. Disadvantages: overshadowed by construction of taller buildings behind the Hilton - pool area is partly shaded
...A lot can happen in a space of a few years but never more so than in Dubai; it's currently a massive construction site but in the nicest sort of way! The last time I visited Dubai in 2002, I stayed at OasisBeachHotel in Jumeirah. At that time the OasisBeachhotel was the last hotel on the beach strip apart from the Hilton Hotel; the surrounding land was just barren desert. However, after my present visit in 2006 I was surprised to see there were about 200 buildings being constructed behind the Hilton Hotel! If you've read this far and are thinking it's a big no, no you'll be surprised at how much the construction doesn't really bother you.
As soon as you catch a glimpse of the white sandy beaches against the clear blue skies and hear the sound of the sea as the waves come in…you soon forget the construction, believe me you do...

The Burj-Al-Arab (Arabian Tower) is Dubai and the UAE's answer to the landmark symbols of other countries, they compare it to the Eiffel tower (it's slightly taller by virtue of its mast) and other icons.
