Disadvantages:
I think it could be improved with having rock music playing rather than radio 1 ! It is fairly easy to get lost in the first few times, however getting lost in a world of PVC, velvet, and dog collars is not an entirely unpleasant experience !

When Skunk Anansie sung "All I want", she must have been thinking of this place. It has everything for alternatives, all under one roof! From rubber, leather and pvc for the fetishists, to velvet and makeup for the goths, to flashing lights and uv clothing for the cyberchicks, to baggy trousers and crop tops for the skaters.
The variety is amazing, and definately the widest I have found on my travels around the country. For general alternative wear I would rate it above Soho in London, and here you don't need to worry about pervy shop keepers offering ways to 'reduce the price' (I think you get the idea!).
It is also competitively priced compared with the rest of the country, north and south. You need to look around the entire place first (and it is massive - 5 floors in total, each with several different boutiques) if you are watching the pennies as the prices do vary greatly between boutiques. (And I would recommended doing this anyway so you don't spend your money then see something on a later floor you want as well.) One on the top floor charges on average £50 for a rubber skirt, whereas a boutique on the next floor down will sell you an entire rubber dress for £30!
It is only a short walk away from the train station (Birmingham New Street) if you want to experience somewhere new. Equally if you are a resident of Birmingham and a goth, skater, punk, cyberchick, rocker, fetishist, or even just fancy something a little different for a townie clubbing night (!) this place is a must.
