For anyone who enjoys their holidays they wouldn’t be making a mistake to go to Fuerteventura, and I feel the best place on Fuerteventura is Corralejo.
I have been 3 times and have enjoyed each time immensely; the temperature is great and very warm as you are only a few miles west from the Sahara desert and morocco.
The island is just about catching up with Tenerife in terms of the number of people and things to do; I have noticed this each time I have been over the last 7 years.
Each time it has been a little bit busier, but it is a great place to have either a relaxing holiday or a holiday with waters ports and hiking.
The island is sometimes quite windy and is known as the windy island or Fuertaventura, and is ideal for wind surfing or surfing, even jet skis.
The island is quite a vast area with huge beaches
and plenty of space for all that is starting to go on.
Corralejo is I feel the best place to stay as you are near the spectacular beach he Isla de Lobos National Park, this is huge and by far the biggest and best beach I have ever seen or know about.
Corraljo is right on the north eastern tip of this beach and within walking distance or a two euro taxi ride, I would urge anyone to view and go to this beach.
There are three major tourist areas the northern spot is Corralejo which is predominantly an English resort, then there is Calete da fuste which is near the capitol and the air port and only a 15 min ride away as opposed to an hour from the airport as Correlejo is.
And the southern resort is Jandia and is mostly French, German and Dutch although it is a nice place its not like or as nice as Correlejo.
Correljo caters for all there are many bars restaurants and shops, although clubs have yet to pop up there are not many, it’s not your average pounding Ibiza.
You have a good mix of get up and go activities and relaxing things to do such as sea going trips, pool bathing etc as we all like to do.
The Oasis Dunashotel is not like your average block of flats type of hotel, it is spread out in a tropical oasis style with palm trees and pools surrounded by two story high apartments.
The hotel caters for all family sizes with rooms ranging from self Catering, 1-bedroom apartments, 2 bedroom appartments for a larger family.
The staff are great fun and friendly and Clean 5 times per week, you have for the hot days Cold-water pools and only a 15 min walk away the sea and the big beach.
Also you have a good panoramic view where you can see the sea to the east dead volcanos to the west, a view of Lanzarote to the north and again volcano’s and sea to the south, and they are breathtaking views.
There hotel has a supermarket, Reception 24 hrs, Telephone and the funny pay per view TV for the times you need to get out of the sun.
The system is funny as you need to put coins in a slot to watch TV and see the timer go down, it is very cheap and more cost affective I believe this way as it lowers the amount of TV you watch.
Oh and the other thing its mostly Spanish channels lol! The mini resort as I would call also has 3 bars, 2 restaurants and a Large screen satellite TV in the bar.
If you are more the sporty type you can play Volleyball, tennis, basketball or watch the funny reps do their shows after dinner every day.
Each room for a small down payment fee has a safe, as we all know is very useful when to and fro wing in a hotel complex.
I went in June to this hotel and it was great it cost us £750 for two weeks self catering although the food was good in the hotel and we tried kit a few times, we prefer to stroll down into town and eat out.
We had 1600 euros for the two weeks, which after trips and eating and generally doing what we wanted still left us with a good amount to buy duty frees.
A couple of tips if you stay here or at any hotel in fuertaventura, there will probably with in easy walking distance be a spar or a cheaper shop then the one in your complex.
It is probably best to get your bearings and find these which will nearly over the course of your holiday half your drink and food bill.
In Correlejo a new water park has been built right on top of the hill Correlejo rises up, it has excellent views and is a good attraction but gets quite busy.
I would surely stay at the Oasis Dunas apart hotel again I really enjoyed it and its location I didn’t want to leave and go home, the hotel is three stars but seems so enjoyable I would give it 5 it is clean and your are catered for very well by happy helpful staff.
They speak good English and will happily banter in Spanish with you; the reps are good fun to and are trustworthy with the kids.
For what I felt like when leaving £750 for two weeks was well worth it and I would pay that again with out a doubt.
The best part of the hotel is the design you walk straight out to a pool area near clean safe and well kept pools you don’t have to walk to fare for the services and it is very conveniently placed on the edge of town.
I would highly recommend this hotel and resort and island etc.
I may have missed something so if you have any questions or queries message me and I’ll get back to you.
