I have to admit that when my parents announced that we would be packing our bags and heading for the Lake District for our Christmas vacation I was not very pleased. I like to spend christmas at home with my family and friends, it is just a tradition that I have grown used to and even though Iim 21 I still like to put my stocking underneith the family christmas tree!! I like eating the christmas dinner at the family table and i like snuggling up in the lounge to watch the old movie after christmas pud!
My mum (Buzzz from ciao) was full of enthusiasm and managed to convince us all that it would be lots of fun and I have to admit that we all had a great time. Our party consisted of myself, mum, dad and my younger brother and sister aged 11 and 15. My uncle and Aunty also came along with their 2 children aged 26 and 24.I
can honestley say that we found something to entertain us all.
The chalets are beautiful, we chose a woodland cabin which consisted of one double room, and 2 twin rooms. Each chalet can sleep up to ten people because the sofas also transfer in to beds. The cabins are kept in brilliant condition and i particulary liked the heated towel racks!! The moment that we had unpacked Mrs Over Enthusiastic (ie my mother) had us hiking off to hire mountain bikes!! Any hopes that I had about a nice restful holiday where thrown out of the window! Really you need to hire mountain bikes to get around the park although you can also walk, but we found our bikes really convenient.
The Butterfly centre is the central point of the park. Here you can find an assortment of shops, restaurants, cafes and bars. We tried quite afew of the restaurants including cafe Verde and they where all lovely and quite reasonably priced. There is something for everyone in the Butterfly centre but make sure that you check out the world of water. We went swimming on christmas morning!!!There are some really good water schutes for dare devils aswell as a wave machine,jacuzzis and rapids. We all loved the water park especially.One of the really fast schutes (which I didn't have the guts to go on) actually goes outside! But beware my uncle had his swimming trunks ripped on this ride because the tide was so fast! Although this was great entertainment for us it can only be embaressing for the victim!!!!!
There is a "bike park" situated outside the Butterfly centre aswell so you can lock your bike up at night and enjoy a drink in one of the many bars. We went to some really good caberet shows inc motown and musicals. A late night disco continues after the show is over until about 1 0'clock. Children are also allowed to come to the shows and disco with their parents. The real fun came for me when I had to cycle up a massive hill after one too many bacardi breezers!!!
Also visit the country club during your stay. There are some really nice shops here to buy sports equipment. However, I forgot my swimming costume and found the costumes within this complex to be a little bit pricey!
There are so many endless activaties at Oasis that you will have to look hard to find a better all round family holiday. Other activaties inc Quad biking, Horse Riding, Ice skating and much more.
Most things are reasonably priced, and entrance to the world of water is free. There is a really nice warm pub near to the country club, I forget its name but you can't miss it. The food is excellent, real big portions and really yummy!
I would recommend this holiday for a variety of reasons. There are activaties for all and if you are a fan of outdoor peruits then you are gonna love it! I didn't think that this would be my kind of holiday but I really enjoyed myself and I'm trying to convince my boyfriend to come with me in Autumn again!
Look out for special weekends such as fireworks or Easter when they have special activaties. You can pick up Oasis holiday brochures from most travel agents. Prices vary depending upon the season but have a good look and find an offer that suits you cos its a great experience!

We are off to the lake district next month, might be nice (for me at least) if you wrote an op on that.....Anyway, great op........well done.......Always fancies going here but never actually done it.....
