I am so excited.... it is my annual trip to my most favourite holiday resort...no it isn't the Seychelles, or Antigua....it is Penrith and Oasis Holiday Village.
I first encountered Oasis after a drunken dinner with friends, who were not local to us and so we all agreed to have a short break with our two youngsters (6yrs and 6 months) and their two youngsters (4 years and 6 months. The reality in the morning after the initial shock of the hangover was the fact that we were all going to share a "cabin" for 4 nights, Mon-Fri in the lake district area where the weather is always "inclement" not quite a fortnight in the sun.
Anyway, off we went loaded up with wellies, waterproofs and matching enthusiasm....How wrong I was.
Needless to say, next week we shall be loading up the car (now a 7-seater due to the arrival of our third child a mere 3 months old)and off we go again.
The first visit when we shared a lodge with friends was not as bad as I first thought. The lodges were fantastic and because the cost was shared between two families it worked out very economical. The only problems we had were more to do with who we shared the lodge with and not the facilities on the site.
The following year we took along Grandad (a keen golfer and excellent babysitter) aswell as "good old Uncle Chris" (rich, bachelor who adores the kids) and this was my idea of heaven. We all lounged about by the Pool or "world of water" as it is known, the kids loved the slides and I loved the fact there was so much to entertain them, I actually got time to read a magazine. We played softball at the country club, ten-pin bowling, ate out a couple of nights but by the end of the day the kids were so exhausted, they went off to bed and the grown-ups did what they do best, drink wine and play trivial pursuit
This is the fourth time we are going, usually we go in January because the cost is so low and it is a great "pick-me-up" after the Xmas session but due to the birth of my baby before Xmas we have waited until March. We have also upgraded to VIP as I think the earlier check-in (1pm) is more beneficial as we only live 2 hours away. This will be the first time we have gone when Center Parcs have taken over so I shall be interested to see any changes.
I cannot recommend Oasis enough, we holidayed in Spain in the Summer for two weeks but I did not get the relaxation or enjoyment I do from Oasis. Last year we had gale force winds and pouring rain, but I was still seen out looking for pine cones with my 8 year old and came back to the roaring log fire, soaking wet with a smile on our faces.
Roll on next week!!!!!

I am sorry but you haven't described anything about the resort at all! To get a VH from me would really require more details of what you spent, facilities, experiences etc. If someone is thinking of visiting Center Parcs for the first time then they really need to know more about what is on offer, what to bring, what to expect, what things cost etc. and you haven't provided any of this. You seem to assume we all know what is involved. Happy to upgrade if and when you update.

Hi and welcome. I was torn between giving a VH or H and was swayed by the fact that it is very good for a first op. But I agree with the others that some more details would be helpful so it would be great if you could update it.

Sounds great...and I am glad you enjoy it.
Could you please let me know some prices? Is it per person?
Well written....could use a tad more info. :)
