Obergurgl-Hochgurgl

Advantages: very high up
Disadvantages: expensive

I don't know about the skiing, but the location is fantastic with high mountains all around and a choice of many runs. We went in the summer for the walking and the scenery is stunning. There are lifts up to the Hohe Mutt and plenty of facilities in the town. The road in is good, but a long drive. The valley is steep in places. The Eidelweiss and Gurgl is a wonderfull hotel with a pool and jacuzzi overlooking the mountains. The food is excellent ... Read review

Advantages: Snowsure resort
Disadvantages: Not much nightlife

Obergurgl is a resort in the Tirolean Alps of Austria. In winter is quite a picturesque town. The skiing is enjoyable for beginners and also intermediates, there is not very much for advanced skiiers in Obergurgl. There is a new four man gondola which links Obergurgl with Hochgurgl, this is a much welcomed alternative to the free ski bus. ...you have to ski down to the village! Another lively place for apres ski is the is the umbrella bar outside the Edleweiss and Gurgl. There is not very much to do after the apres ski and you seem to end up in the quite popular night club at the back of the Edleweiss and Gurgl, however it is more of a bar than a club, but it seems to be the only nightclub in Obergurgl. Obergurgl isn't a very big town and it wouldn't afford much more nightlife. There ... Read review
