Obergurgl is a resort in the Tirolean Alps of Austria. In winter is quite a picturesque town. The skiing is enjoyable for beginners and also intermediates, there is not very much for advanced skiiers in Obergurgl. There is a new four man gondola which links Obergurgl with Hochgurgl, this is a much welcomed alternative to the free ski bus.
The apres-ski seems to start in a mountain restaurant just above Obergurgl called the Nederhutte, this is always very lively and has live austrian music, the problem is you have to ski down to the village! Another lively place for apres ski is the is the umbrella bar outside the Edleweiss and Gurgl. There is not very much to do after the apres ski and you seem to end up in the quite popular night club at the back of the Edleweiss and Gurgl, however it is more of a bar than a club, but it seems to be the only nightclub in Obergurgl. Obergurgl isn't a very big town and it wouldn't afford much more nightlife. There is a bar called the Josl Keller which is an underground bar, this is sometimes good.
The advantage of this resort is that it is very high in terms of Alpine resorts, this means that Obergurgl is a very snowsure resort and that you can ski there in April, there is sometimes snow until May. Obergurgl is a fantastic place spoilt only by its lack of good night life, but i have been there twice and i will probably go again.
