We visited the Ocean PalaceResort (some call it the Ocean Palce Hotel, Ocean Palace Apartments) in December 2006
The Truth is now the Ocean Palce Hotel is 4* standard with an ajoining annex of apartments which are an official 3* standard. We booked with First Choice, and booked into the 4* hotel on an all inclusive basis. The cost of the holiday was £760,00 from 8th Dec to 15 Dec. Which was for myself, wife and our nearly 3 yr old daughter.
Bearing in mind that this was in the 4* hotel on an all inclusive basis - what a total steal. I was over the moon.
The flights turned out to be with Thomas Cook, as First Choice airlines no longer operate out of our local airport. I was not bothered by this one bit. The flights turned out to be great, no problems, friendly staff, good condition plane etc. NO DELAYS!
On checking into the hotel we were instantly impressed of its standard. Nice reception, first impressions count. On going into our room that impression was still good. The room was a little like a suite / apartment type. Nice modern decor and furniture alike. Spacious rooms, gorgeous bathroom and bedroom (The bedroom had a bit of a Japanese feel to it with a very large, pannelled, frosted glass sliding door) On the whole a great room for a holiday. It had a little kitchen in it with a fridge and cooker (Dont even know if the cooker worked!!!) Kettle / toaster/ Microwave....you name it, it was in there. Gobsmacked, I did not expect a room like this for a minute.
Even though we were all inclusive it was still nice to have the luxury of a coffee in bed in the morning. The Micro was handy as our little girl still enjoys the odd warm bottle of milk
Oh, TV. Yep it had a TV too, which you got free channels or you could upgrade to a Satelite package for about £2 a day. We never bothered, I think I turned the TV on 3 times. I struggled to get any sense out of it or anything decent to watch.
On to the facilities. The Pool is large and in 2 sections, one of them is slightly heated, the other not. The pools still dont get that warm really as the position of the hotel is quite close to the mountains which apparently causes alot of cloud! Dont know if thats true, but I never found the pool really warm. We had about 3 cloudy days out of 7.
The bars and restaurants are really good, (the Italian was poor - we thought but apart from that the rest were good) 3 restaurants and 3 bars. The all inclusive is fantastic, the food is of a good standard and there is something for everyone. Its served on a buffet basis. Im a food lover so I filled my boots and enjoyed it. Fantastic fresher than fresh salad bar for starters. YUM.
On the All inclusive you can drink what you like basically, (apart from cocktails). But beer, wines, spirits (NON BRANDED) are all included. As much ice cream as u like, soft drinks too. Which is a massive saving if you have kids.
Entertainment I thought was brill, as we have a little daughter, she loved the kids mini disco which is on every night for an hour. After that there is some kind of live show, then adults disco, however we never got to see it as the entertainment went on till midnight. There is a full time entertainment team of First Choice reps as the hotel is exclusive to them. They were all nice people, and very funny with it.
Only problem is, the week went quick as we enjoyed it alot. We are a fairly well travelled family with alot of experience of different countries. We would put this trip to near the top of our experiences.
And all for £760 for 3 people all inclusive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you book at the right time with not alot of notice, you can get a steal from first choice. There website is best to book off, instead of calling them.
