Whenever we are on holiday in Hong Kong, we are sure to visit Ocean Park.
It costs about £16 for an adult (half price for child) but via a promotional offer we paid less than twelve quid for a ticket.
The theme park is split into two parts, and these are connected by a cable car ride system. The Lowlands - which is where the main entrance is situated - is where the Giant Pandas can be seen. I only saw An An this time around, so I have yet to see the new arrivals Le Le and Ying Ying. But the disappointment of the day was that lunch at the Boardwalk Cafe was pretty poor. Should have went to the McDonald's there.
Much of the main attractions are at the Headlands, however if the cable car ride getting there was off-putting first time around, there's the Tai Shue Wan entrance/exit to take visitors back down to the Lowlands. Of the rides, the Raging River is sure to wet the appetite, and if not, what you're wearing. The crazy Crazy Galleon is close by to the Dragon rollercoaster, a ride that goes out over the ocean! But the attraction which I found most frightening was the Abyss Turbo Drop - hearts are in mouths for this vertical ascend and drop tower.
It's not just about entertainment, but also about education. And although visitors can learn about amazing asian animals, and the Chinese culture, there's even a Japanese Garden on show.
Doors are open every day by 10am and it's worth getting in early to make the most of the trip, because of the queues for the rides on a busy day. Also, as the sheer size of Ocean Park makes for a lengthy walk. Whilst there are plenty of display statues which provide for picture opportunities, there are image galleries to view and purchase those photo moments.
Unlike Hong Kong Disneyland, Ocean Park is definitely worth returning to as there is so much to see and do.
