Disadvantages: Obvious poverty of the locals

...as they tend to be covered with towels by 10am. Not a problen for those amongst us that get up early but annoying all the same. Punta Cana's golf courses are second to none and prices are very resonable. There is a kiosk in the lobby to arrange golf club hire and transportation. The hotel has their own PADI approved diving school and have various types of diving trips for beginners right through to professionals. You can also rent snorkelling kit, catamarans, speedboats, canoes, windsurfers etc from the centre. Paragliding can be done from about US$60 from the Barceola Bavaro Resort which is only five minutes down the beach. Helicopter rides can also be purchase here from US$40 to US$200. A couple we met tried this and confirmed the trip was breathtaking. Not so good for those hotel which were directly under the flightpath I guess... Read review

Advantages: Cheap, good pubs and clubs, good weather

...Visited Sunny Beach, Bulgaria in August 2007. Travelled with a friend and his parents so was slightly dissapointed when the holiday was booked as I had hoped for one of the more traditional 'party' resorts such as Magaluf. However, upon the first night of wandering Sunny Beach I was amazed. A great place with plenty of bars offering great deals on drinks and meals. Regularly visited the Club Lazur which was a 3 floor club with outdoor pools. Played a good range of music and was open until the late hours. Dirt cheap to get in, only 4 levs. The beach was nice with beautiful sand. Bars on the beach serve pints of beer for around 3 levs. Various other activites are available around the resort including mini golf, scooter hire etc.... Read review
