I tried to book tickets for a showing for the performance of a new release at the local Odeon cinema, which I’d been looking forward to seeing for a while. It was the 3rd in the Scream trilogy and I had heard very good things about it, although that’s irrelevant to the point of this opinion. I knew it was out, as it was released a few days before I wanted to see it and a few of my friends had already seen it. I was sitting at my computer when my friend rang to organise a time to see it, so neither of us had the cinema time to hand. Therefore, I thought I’d try and be all technologically advanced and look on the internet. I thought it would be quicker and it was something I’d wanted to try out for a while. I do so many other, more complex things on the internet, like shopping and even booking holidays, that I thought checking cinema times would be a doddle! So I logged onto the site to get hold of the times. After waiting a suspiciously long time, the site finally loaded up and I found the relevant link to the cinema times page. I tried searching for Maidstone, but it didn’t seem to register it and was eventually unsuccessful. After all that time I was quite fed up and tried to refresh. Eventually I got through to the Maidstone branch and entered all the relevant info. It told me, firstly, that Scream 3 wasn’t showing - it obviously hadn’t been updated - and second time round, it told me completely different times to what I remember seeing I the paper. After 1/2 , we gave up, hung up and phoned Odeon directly. We managed to get hold of tickets for performances we wanted to see in the end, but no thanks to the web site. Technology us moving on, and the internet is becoming the best way to do things like that, so Odeon need to get their act together if they want enough customers to enable them to stay in business!
Advantages: Average cinema Disadvantages: Price, not much to do afterwards
...same as in any other Odeon cinema - quite comfortable, although there is not a great deal of legroom here.
There are not many good restaurants around here either - High Street Kensington is a shopping street, and closes down after 8:00pm. This cinema can actually be quite busy, because it is not very big, so if you have to go, book in advance. But if you don't have to go, go somewhere else and spend the £4.00 you save on something more worthwhile. ...
