Okhotny Ryad is a modern underground shopping centre located adjacent to the tomb of the unknown soldier, behind Red Square. It has a selection of high-class boutiques and luxury shops. As I went on a school trip none of us could afford very much with prices, comparable to those in the UK, being a little too high for us poor students. There is a large, easilly accessible internet cafe, which is reasonably priced with helpful staff.
Perhaps lacking in some of the traditional charm that Gum has, I found browsing here was a pleasant experience, although as ever, nearby underpasses should be approached with caution after dark.
There are a number of Russian fast food outlets (fun to compare with Macdonalds!) on the bottom floor which share a large seating area. This is very convenient when visiting Red Square etc. as a place to grab a quick bite to eat (and use the loo!) without spending too much time in a more formal sit-down restaurant.
All in all Okhotny Ryad is a nice place to have a look at while you're in central Moscow, but not a place to visit just for it's own sake.

Sorry about the vagueness on specific shops and prices. I thought it best to omit this information since it might have changed since I was last there. I'll have a look there in a month or so and keep you posted.

Hi nice op. This Mall was based on one in Norwich - the Russians came over to look at it. This is a good area, I've been to it many times. Larry

More details on specific shops and prices etc may have helped here I think - thanks anyway for the op. - Phil
