The Old Bedford River to the East of Cambridge is an excellent stretch of water for the match or pike angler. Here you will find plentiful stocks of perch, roach, rudd, skimmers and pike. As I am not a match man myself I will tell you about the pike. These wonderful fighting fish are in abundance here from small jacks right up to 25lb plus monsters. It is nothing unusual to bag at least 6 of these fish in a single session.
... ...to go and the best swim is situated by the bridge. Be careful you don't make the mistake of fishing the wrong river as the New Bedford runs parallel and probably has not had any (certainly very few) fish of any description in it for years.
Live bait works best although Sink & Draw with smelt or mackrel work quite well.
The only downside is that being fairly low the area quite often floods making fishing rather difficult and dangerous as you don't ...
