Advantages: Close to town, close to Safeways, Close to beer on the beach! Disadvantages: Guernsey can be quite boring, slow way of life!
I travel an awful lot to Guernsey and this seems to be the only hotel we use as a company and put up in . It is pretty decent and I am headstrong about giving it a good review.
Guernsey I find pretty dull and boring, the St Pierre Park is no exception- home to lots of elderly people who are on regular visits.
The rooms are very nice and bathrooms are lovely- shower and bath.
The layout of the hotel is pretty simple, 4 levels with Gym,Pool, Sauna, Cosmetics, Computer room and also the dining area on the lower floor, middle floor is reception and bar and also the breakfast lounge and higher tiers are rooms - about 140 I believe. Most with balconys.
The hotel is quite well situated - 10 minute walk to StPeterPort ( the capital ) and 2 minutes to Safeways.
I would recommend hiring a car, you will end up most likely with a Ford ...
Advantages: Close to all amenities, clean, friendly, good short break offers Disadvantages: If walking be prepared for the hill!!
Nestled in the side of a hill surrounded by other private houses, yet still with tranquillity, is the Hotel De Havelet run by Best Western, which inlcudes their very inviting and locally well-known restaurant- 'The Wellington Boot.'
Although we were working on a budget for this visit, we were still looking for good food and comfortable lodgings for a few days, and this hotel churned out the goods!
The hotel is situated on the edge of StPeterPort, the capital of Guernsey, so the major town is very accessible by foot, and not too far from local public transport, taxis or boat trips to the other smaller surrounding Channel Islands.
We had taken up a short break offer, which we were very grateful for as our trip was not to be a relaxing one due to a death in the family. However, this hotel, whatever reason brings you to the island ...
Advantages: Reception, Balcony, Breakfast Bar, Rooms Disadvantages: First Impression
expensive journey. Luckily the return trip wasn't the same but it's not like you can argue with them nor do anything. So with my first impression of the locals engraved in stone in my mind I got out of the taxi to find the Cardinal Hotel, StPeters.
- The Address
The address suggests that the hotel is basically on the door step of the Vatican its self. I have no idea why it was so similar to the address of the actual StPeters because the Cardinal Hotel is on the out skirts of the city. Even one or two of the taxi drivers who had been around for a while weren't sure where it was.
To get to the hotel you have to turn off a main road after avoiding some mad traffic (that's how they drive there) into a back street which looks like it has taken a beating over the years and could do with someone tearing it apart and relaying the concrete ...
