Nestled amid rolling hills in the heart of England's beautiful Peak District, this historic residence is located in the elegant spa town of Buxton, opposite the Pavilion Gardens.
Advantages: Historical, interesting, great views Disadvantages: Not a huge amount to see
A couple of weeks ago Mr Tart and I headed for the Peak District to visit his family. As a big fan of all things old I wanted to visit some sort of historical site as my part of the weekend (don?t worry, her got a 7 mile walk out of me for his part!). I?d always wanted to visit Hardwick Hall, especially as the Tudors is one of my favourite historical periods and was very happy to hear it was so close to where we were staying.
SOME HISTORY:
I doubt if many people will have heard of Hardwick OldHall. I certainly hadn?t and I like to think I?m quite a bore when it comes to these sorts of things! The Hall was built by Bess of Hardwick (Elizabeth, Countess Shrewsbury) between 1587 and 1596. Bess was one of the foremost women of the Elizabethan age and managed to get through four husbands on her way up the social ladder. Bess was ...
Advantages: Front of the hotel, reception area and communal areas, friendly staff. Disadvantages: Rooms, dated decor, bathrooms, dusty artificial flowers.

The positives...
In my opinion, the front of the hotel and the communal interior areas are beautiful, particularly the reception area and restaurant. There is a grand sweeping staircase leading up to the bedrooms, a lovely old-fashioned wooden revolving door into the hotel, elaborate pillars, a lot ...
Advantages: In a remote scenic area, lots of facilites Disadvantages: slightly expensive but still worth it
Buckatree HallHotel - Telford Shropshire
The hotel stated above is part of the Swallow Hotels chain, not like your average chain hotel this one is stunning my other half and I stayed there a couple of times going back after the first visit as we enjoyed it so much.
It is a 2 star hotel but I believe it is well worth of more, it has 62 rooms catering for all needs and being very family friendly, they have single rooms, double rooms and family rooms and where possible will arrange and room to suit your individual needs.
Buckatree HallHotel is situated just off the M54 in a remote location down a few back roads, it has a peaceful quiet surrounding area which puts you in the mood for your relaxing break away. There are several tourist attractions not far via car journey such as, Telford Shopping Centre, Park, Bowling Ally, Ice ...
