The Rosshotel is a boutique 4* hotel in the heart of Killarney town centre. I was here on a work trip at the very end of April and this was one of my favourite hotels of the trip. The majority of hotels in this area are quite traditional in décor but, the Ross is completely the opposite! It is very funky and as soon as you enter the lobby you can't help being impressed by the bright green, pink and black décor. I had been looking forward to seeing the hotel as soon as I found out we would be visiting and I have to say I wasn't disappointed.
First impressions:
I suppose to be fair the exterior is nothing spectacular - in all honesty it doesn't stand out on the street that you would really notice it unless you were looking for it. And since the lady who was taking around the hotel was brining us acrossfrom the hotel across ...

The Raven Hotel - Old English Inns.
We stayed in a family room here in August 09. The cost was £19.99 per person as part of a promotion throught the Daily Mail.
We stayed on the reccomendation of our parents who had stayed there a week earlier, at a cost of £9.99 and thouroughly enjoyed their stay.
The Hotel has 38 rooms which are a mixture of double single and family rooms.
The layout of the Hotel is confusing, there seem to be stair and doors leading everywhere. I was rather surprised that our family room was on the top floor through a maze of stairs/doors and corridors.
There was a slight delay on arrival as the front desk would appear to be not manned all the time.
Our room was comfortable, it was clean and tidy if a little dated. Tea/Coffee and biscuits are provided in the room.
The layout of the room was ...
Advantages: Service at breakfast and breakfast itself Disadvantages: shabby rooms, noisy doors, no sound-proofing
As part of a hen weekend package we were upgraded to the apparently 4 star Old Ship Hotel in Brighton which is Brighton's oldest hotel. I hadn't heard anything about it prior to hearing we would be staying here but having asked a few friends who'd visited Brighton quite often I didn't hear anything positive - those who had stayed there said it was pretty shabby and those who hadn't stayed said it looked pretty shabby just from the outside. Not a good start but as if was part of the hen weekend package and because we'd been upgraded for free from a 3 star hotel to the Old Ship Hotel I had to assume it couldn't be all bad - maybe it had been refurbished since my friends had seen it/stayed there.
There are apparently 50 car parking spaces for use by hotel guests which you have to pay about £15 a day and £5 overnight to use these. There ...
