Vieux Lyon is home to the Basillique and the minature museum amonst other attractions, all of which are worth a visit. The basillica is a church built in the late 1800s and offers amazing panaromic views of the city on a clear day. The architecture of the basillica ... ...a free leaflet in explaining the architecture and the chuch, head across the road to the gift shop and there are some by the door. There is also a restaurant up there but most of the tables wouldn't offer you much of a view so i wouldn't think it was worth eating there - the menu looked very limited too. If you want a free leaflet in explaining the architecture and the chuch, head across the road to the gift shop and there are some by the door. There is also a restaurant up there but most of the tables wouldn't offer you much of a view so i wouldn't think it was worth eating there - the menu looked very limited too. The minature muesum displays artwork, mostly minature replications of places or people. Entrance price is around 11 euros for adults and half price for students, childrens and any other concessions. The cafes and restaurants are generally nice but mostly very busy at lunch time. There is plenty of choice ranging from a crepe stand to some rather expensive restaurants - most of them rather traditional. Worth a visit but if you don't want to pay more than the food is worth, head back over the river to the town centre.
It's easy to get to and there are plenty of buses and the metro which go to vieux Lyon. It's a short walk from the town centre and the walk is quite pleasant, crossing over the river.
Cobbled streets in places so not necessarily the easiest road surface for all.
