I am a Civil Servant, with an interset in keeping fit, or rather keeping my weight down. I cycle to work on a daily basis and go running twice per week.

To be honest there is not really a lot left to see of the original Gaol, as most of it was pulled down to make way for the University. All that is left is on three story wing, though it is the wing which contained NED KELLY prior to his execution.
The most famous exhibt, thanks to BILLY CONNELLY, are the wanking mits, displayed in a case in Cell No 13 on the ground floor.
A guide explains via, a model of the gaol what exactly you can see, and a brief history of the gaol, after that you can wander round visiting each of the cells, all of which are open, though there are over 30, and in my view once you've seen one bare cell you've seen them all.
Story boards in some cells explain the history of transportation & the Australian Penal system, plus the history of the Gaol and the story of Ned Kelly. There is also a chance to walk on the actual scaffold used in Kelly's execution (thankfully now made safe), and to see a replica of Kelly's armour (apparently the original is housed in Melbourne Library)
After, or before entering the Gaol there is a chance to stock up on souveniers of your trip, ranging from tea towels and badges to postcards and books about Australia's most famous outlaw.
