...I stayed at the Mill House recently and was simultaneously impressed and depressed by what I found. I liked my room, which was exceptionally pretty and I liked the setting but the food was poor, the service 'patchy' and the public areas just a bit too much like a 1980s country pub with no customers.
Location
The hotel is in the tiny village of Ashington, about ten miles north of Worthing and just off the A24. If you don't know it's there, you'll struggle to find it as it's located down a pot-holed track off a poorly sign-posted side-road to the dual carriageway. Luckily someone led me to the right road as I think it would have been very easy to miss.

...As part of a hen weekend package we were upgraded to the apparently 4 star Old Ship Hotel in Brighton which is Brighton's oldest hotel. I hadn't heard anything about it prior to hearing we would be staying here but having asked a few friends who'd visited Brighton quite often I didn't hear anything positive - those who had stayed there said it was pretty shabby and those who hadn't stayed said it looked pretty shabby just from the outside. Not a good start but as if was part of the hen weekend package and because we'd been upgraded for free from a 3 star hotel to the Old Ship Hotel I had to assume it couldn't be all bad - maybe it had been refurbished since my friends had seen it/stayed there.
There are apparently 50 car parking spaces for use by hotel guests which you have to pay about £15 a day and £5 overnight to use these...

I would recomend the Old Waverly Hotel, Edinburgh as a tourist hotel for those who do not expect 4****. Personaly I would stay here again.
Good Points: Central location, good value, clean, great breakfast
Bad points: Rooms a little dated/aged/tired, No access for wheelchairs from Princes Street...
