Advantages: great facilities, good location Disadvantages: food & drink can be expensive
I was recently on holiday in Muscat, Oman and stayed in the Grand Hyatt. This is a spectacular hotel and is located on the Shatti Al Qurm beach overlooking the Gulf of Oman, in the middle of the diplomatic and government district in Muscat. Other international 5 stars hotel are also close by on the beach and include the Intercontinental and the Crowne Plaza.
It has 280 rooms and suites and is an ideal hotel for both business and pleasure and is frequented by both business travellers and holiday makers alike. The rooms are all very spacious with either views of the pool, the Gulf of Oman or the mountains. All the rooms have balconies although there isn't any chairs or table on the balcony but these can be requested from housekeeping. Well designed and laid out the rooms come with all facilities including flat screen tvs, in room safe ...
Advantages: Selection is great, prices- the cheapest or one of the cheapest in the World. Disadvantages: Too many small shops and traipsing through all of them can be tiresome.
Location and Travel :-
The Gold Souk is in the Deira part of Dubai. If you happen to be staying in Bur Dubai you can take either a bus or a taxi to the Gold Souk. As it is so famous you need not tell the driver the location, he will take you there. From Bur Dubai the easiest way to go is through the Al Shindaga tunnel as you will have to cross the Creek. If you are staying in Deira, it might be either walkable or a short cab drive away. Plenty of local maps are available--the tourist desk at your hotel should be able to provide you with one. When visiting the Gold souk it is also worthwhile to step into the nearby fish market which is really huge and displays a wide array of fish, prawns and crabs(you will be surprised at their different colours).
In the gold souk there is loads to walk so tired legs are inevitable at the end ...
Advantages: Exceptionally delicious Disadvantages: Hard to find in Britain, and impossible to find in British supermarkets
One of the pleasures of visiting France is that there one can walk into any supermarket and buy fruit that is both tasty and ripe. This is in marked contrast to shopping in Britain, where the main retail chains seem to make it a point of principle to stock only the varieties with the least flavour and to sell them so under-ripe that any potential for flavour will have no chance to reach fruition. Anyone who has only ever eaten fruit bought from British supermarkets can have no notion of how good it can actually taste. Indeed, they will probably have grown up under the illusion that fruit is essentially tasteless.
Of no fruit is this truer than the grape. I am just back from a short visit to France where I have been enjoying grapes of the muscat variety, which are universally on sale there at this time of year. Admittedly ...
