I went across this tower twice during my visit to Prague:once in the evening and once during the night-and believe me you need to do it this way cos it's worth it.

Even though it's quite at night, this part of the bridge is a different place during the day. During daytime, there are lots of artists, painters sitting around the place to sell their art and there are also little stores that sell souvenirs, quite a different picture. It surely is one of my favourite spot in Prague.
Advantages: Truly beautiful and historic Disadvantages: Can get very busy at times
CHARLES BRIDGEPRAGUE
When I booked to go to Prague for a short break I knew nothing at all about the city. The little visitors guide I bought told me that one of the must see' places I must visit on my holiday was 'Charles Bridge'
As it happens, our hotel in Malá Strana was quite close to the famous bridge and we crossed it every time that we went to the Oldtown.
This little book also told me that the bridge would be very crowded and that it was a known place that pickpockets were in abundance.
I don't know why, but when we were there (mid-week in October) the bridge was busy but never over busy.
So what is Charles Bridge?
Charles Bridge (Karlov Most) is to Prague is what the Eiffel Tower is to Paris, the Tower to London etc. It is possibly Prague's most famous landmark.
It is an impressive ...
Advantages: Free entrance, beutifully built, historic attraction Disadvantages: Can get very busy
Charles Bridge is probably one of Pragues most recognised landmarks. For many years, Charles Bridge was the only way to cross the River Vltava that flows through the middle of the City. Nowadays there are many bridges connecting OldTownPrague and the New Town but there is still something very special about the Charles Bridge that makes it stand out from all the others.
Charles Bridge is an old stone gothic bridge which is lined with numerous statues of saints. The bridge was built from sandstone blocks and was commissioned by Charles IV, after whom the bridge was named, in 1357. Today, the Charles Bridge can only be crossed on foot, but with it being a very popular attraction in Prague, it is literally crammed with crowds of people all day long. There is no fee for crossing the bridge but tourists are invited to walk up the tower ...
Advantages: A beautiful view Disadvantages: Depedning where the hotel is, it can be a bit of a hike to get to and all the side streets are easy to get lost in
I first visited Prague this February on a college trip and by accident stumbled upon this bridge. I made the agonising trip to the top of the tower and the views were well worth it..looking over towards the oldtown and the castle epitomised the total beauty of Prague for me. This was made considerably more romantic because it was Valentine's Day and there were lots of luck ladies walking aroung with roses. The sights of home have never seemed the same since. Of course, it is not the only beautiful part of Prague but definitely one you should visit. There are also stalls along the bridge and I bought a beautiful handcrafted necklance for #2 - bargain! Fortunately, I managed to take the perfect photo and gave pinned it to the wall so I never forget. I'm already saving up for a return trip! ...
