...SanDiego is a fantastic holiday destination. It is warm and sunny but as it is on the coast there are cooling sea breezes. The people are all friendly and there is fantastic shopping centre. The buildings are all painted in bright colours as the town used to be owned by Mexico. A place that must be visited is Balboa Park which has museums in it (some of which can be free on particular days) and also SanDiego zoo. The park itself is lovely to walk around and has tress from all over the world. Another must is oldtown. This is a place with shops and restaurants which are in 'old style'. It has a mexican feel and is very relaxing. Basically SanDiego is a must!...

Advantages: Very informative Disadvantages: You may miss the trolley
...When I was on a recent business trip to SanDiego, and not having much time to have a look around I decided that the best way to see some of the town was on the trolley tour. OldTownTrolley Tours has provided sightseeing tours since 1989, and they try to highlight the best of SanDiego.

The trolleys themselves run on a circuit and if you were to just sit on the trolley and not get off, then the whole circuit would take about 2 hours. I had already looked at the OldTown , and when I had a look through the various stops, it was easy to decide where I wanted to hop on and hop off. The trolleys are actually small...

...to the public). Inland there is the historic Gas Light quarter around 4th and 5th street.
Directly outside the hotel is one of the bus stops for the OldTownTrolley Tour, a two hour narrated tour around the greater SanDiego area. Tickets can be bought from the concierge desk. There is also Village Metro station where trains run at regular intervals up to the vicinity of the airport, Balboa Park and down to the Mexican border near Tijuana.
BOOKING
We booked on line at Hyatt.com. It has to be said that the Manchester Grand Hyatt is an expensive place to stay (the rack rate for a standard room is in the order of $349 a night). However there are some bargains to be had and we were able to book our week's stay for $189 a night (this price is still currently available for November 2006).
The Hyatt chain now has an early check-in facility...
