Advantages: Pool, sauna, jacuzzi, breafast, great rooms Disadvantages: Parking tricky with large car, but at least they have a car park!
...The OldVicarage is probably the best B&B I can ever remember staying at! They have plenty of off-road parking for guests, even if it does require a little manouvering if you have a larger car, everything else certainly makes up for that. The owners are extremely lovely, welcoming people and really make you feel at home. I love the fact they also let dogs in and that their own dogs are allowed around the house.
The rooms are also stunning, wonderfully decorated with nice views and very comfortable and relaxing.
The swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi in the basement are the perfect thing after a day on the hills or mulling around the shops.
The highlight of the stay, for me, was the superb breakfast we had, I couldn't find a thing to fault.
All in all, an absolutely wonderful stay, would highly recommend it (if you can find time when...

Advantages: Something for everyone and you don't need hiking boots. Disadvantages: The British weather.
...was suffering then from stress myself and little did I know that this would be our penultimate proper holiday. So travel with me on a journey through the land of poets and artists, that glorious expanse of land called the Lake District.
Our Experiences
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Our two-week holiday was booked for the middle of September at a caravan site based at Grange-over-Sands on the lower edge of the Lake District. We stopped the night before at Liverpool with a relation of Ann's, as the journey was very long for both of us. We arrived at our site a little before 1pm but were allowed to use our caravan straight away so after unpacking our clothes we set off to buy some basic food to see us through a day. After a very welcome cuppa we decided to drive into the nearest small village where we found a few decent shops and an off...

Advantages: Beautiful setting, well kept, good service and good restaurant, spa facilities included. Disadvantages: Uncomfortable bed and expensive unless booking through LateRooms.com.
...We stayed in a standard double room over the Easter bank holiday weekend booking through Late Rooms. The hotel is beautiful, a converted country house overlooking the estuary, just outside the Lake District. The communal areas of the hotel are very well kept, reception staff were very helpful and the restaurant food was fantastic, although choice was limited for vegetarians. Spa facilities are including in the room price. We stayed in room 18 which had no view (expected since a standard room with a view was more expensive) and was quite small. Had we paid the full £180 room tariff we would have been disappointed with the room but for the £60 we paid with Late Rooms we were satisfied. Our main disappointment was the bed which left us aching in the morning! I would visit this hotel again but only at Late Rooms prices and next time I would...

Heinlein's Starship Troopers was ostensibly a book about humanity waging an interplanetary war against nasty alien creatures. It took a squad of raw recruits and showed their brutal training and induction into military life.

I have had this CD since it was released, and it still plays a prominent part of my music collection.
