Olympic Museum Lausanne (Musee Olympique), Lausanne

Advantages: Great sports, great shops, breathtaking views, boat ride to Evian, calm and relaxed atmosphere
Disadvantages: Expensive trains, doesn't really cater for some food allergies such as coeliac

.... A little further into the city is the Olympic Stadium. This hosts not only football but also athletics meetings. Lausanne-Sports are the local football team, and even before their season starts in mid-July, there are often matches in pre-season such as the recent tournament involving Auxerre and Galatasaray. If sport doesn't appeal to you, it doesn't matter. Lausanne caters for every different type of person. Not only a leading centre for sports, it is also a centre for shopping. Although Lausanne doesn't quite rival Milan in this category, it has some of the best shops in Switzerland. There is also the Musee historique de Lausanne (Historic Museum of Lausanne) which would appeal to keen historians and the Bejart Ballet in Lausanne caters for those interested in ballet dancing. Advantages: Beautifully clean, excellent bathroom, nice balcony, good bed, location, price, parking, staff
Disadvantages: Current construction noise, average breakfast

...This smallish 'boutique' four-star hotel is in an excellent location, just a few blocks up the hill from the lake-side part of Ouchy. It was just a 10 minute walk down to the numerous restaurants and small shops down by the lake, where we went each of our three nights to eat (note, however, it's a longer 15 minute walk back up again!). Ouchy is lovely, and much nicer than the centre of Lausanne itself, which we found much busier and somewhat confusing. The train station, however, is only a 20 minute walk up the hill into the town centre, so the hotel really is located pretty well between the city and the lake. The room was beautifully appointed, with a good king sized bed (more likely, two beds pushed together) and plenty of shelf and wardrobe space all around, although not much drawer space otherwise. Advantages: A haven of scenic beauty
Disadvantages: nothing worth mentioning though language can be problem for english speaking tourists.

...Switzerland with all its scenic beauty,cow bells and marvelous and ever-ready to help people,is a tourists' papdise.One of my husbands friend had already been to Switzerland and he provided us with a tour plan for four days.We had four days and there was so much to do and see. We tried to squeeze in everything that we could. Instead of staying at a hotel in inerlaken( it was suggested by our friend. And all the Indian crowd invariably land there). Interlaken is in the center of Switzerland, so it can be made base for the tour, but my husband had already talked to his friend in Lausanne and we stayed there for our trip.Lausanne is the Olympic Capital" since 1994.It is home to the Olympic Museum, the most visited site in Switzerland.Bjart Ballet of Lausanne is world-famous.
