We arrived at the independence in late Thursday night after a long trip and were pleased to welcomed so openly and efficiently by the staff at the hotel.
We were greeted at the taxi by a bell hop despite it being 11pm and our bags were taken to our room. The lobby was immaculate and charming at the same time. The receptionist who was on the phone at the time immediately asked them to hold and greeted us and checked us in. Our request for a high floor had been met and we were next to the penthouse suite which had a fantastic view of the historical district.
The room which was said to be standard had a Large King size bed that was to die for with egyptian cotton sheets that felt like heaven.... you never want to leave the room. There was space enough for two large suitcases and more. There was a large cupboard with bathrobes for your use and a couch to sit on and read or watch the plasma tv. There was a large desk as well which would allow you to do business if needed. There was an ample mini bar and internet available in the room as well. Complimentary tea and coffee (which is rare these days in hotels) and an actual percolator to give you fresh roasted coffee in the morning.
The hairdryer in the room was a real one, not one of the standard hotel wall ones. There were ample guide books and suggestions of things to do all within the room and hotel information stack.
We got a good rate on hotels.co.uk so we were exceptionally happy with value for money and beleive it could not have been beat anywhere else. It is centrally located to the historical district (literally across the road) and there is no need to drive anywhere.
Cant comment on food as we didn't eat in the hotel.
I must say they were exceptional to us, as i was unwell that day and came back to the hotel were they were storing our bags free of charge after check out and they allowed me to get things without a hassle. They also offered me some bags and water on my departure for the airport just in case i was ill again. They were very helpful and loaded the taxi with all my belongings and called the taxi for me.
A true pleasure which reminds you of how hotels should be
