I am a frequent traveller and have flowen by many airlines. I have recently started Ciao and Onur Air was the first airline that came to my mind. After reading this review, you many get an idea why!

Dec 06 - Travelling to Bodrum.

Having to suffer a 10 hour bus journey is enough to set off my stress!. My eyes were puffed and my head was aching. Not a good time to find out our flight was 3 hours delayed. Thank God we were second in check in, I couldn't help notice the two ladies before us payed £100 excess weight fee. Unbelievable! You may not think so but later on you may think so too! The airport was crowded with passengers flying wherever for the 'Raj'. I have no idea what this was, but due to this the people travelling for the 'Raj' become top priority for Manchester Airport staff, meaning, we were baisicly something on the bottom of their shoe! We then moved forward to the departure gate, that was an hour after we waited for the check in to open! A further 3 hours waiting in departure lounge we finally saw our plane taxing to the gate. At the time I was to busy to notice, but now that I think about it, the aircraft was in a terrible state! Well Onur Air is a budget airline, and the aircraft was sandwhiched in between a First Choice aeroplane and an Emrites aeroplane, so the aircraft was sure to look worse by comparison. Even after the plane was in and the passengers offloaded we were an hours wait. I was finally glad to get on the plane, but there was certainly nothing to be glad about!

I always fly with budget airlines, but this aircraft was something else. I handed my boarding pass to the very unhappy looking air hostess, instead of taking the pass and directing me to my seat, she looked at me as if I was seriously stupid. Completly humiliated I found my own way to my seat. How unbeleivably rude. As I plonked my pretty large body onto my sqeaky, unsteady seat, I found I had trouble fitting my legs in! As I was cramped in my seat, seatbelt fastened I waited to take off so I could finally get some sleep. I waited, waited, waited for at least 40 minutes before seatbelt checks. Looking like she had just woke up from a night of booze, an airhostess approched me, she was chewing gum! Is that even allowed? Anyway, she came up to me and started speaking to me, In Turkish? What?! Jesus, Lady, you expect me to know your language just to fly on your airline ! After aproximatly 15 minutes of seriously awkward conversation she finally used her brain and got someone who spoke English to come to me. It happened to be beacause my bag wasnt under my seat properly! As you could off imagined i was seriously ticked off that she couldn't simply use her hands to tell me to push my bag in a bit! As you know i had already done a fair bit of waiting and was seriously getting stressed waiting for safety demonstration. As I looked out the window I couldnt help noticing they had just started uploading bags! Seriously fed up, I turned my attention to the very attractive looking men throwing bags onto the aircraft.. how sad! Three bag loads later the engine started. Oh, at last. But, there was four bags loads! At the present moment I couldn't give a damn how many bag loads were left on the runway. Final checks were made by the cabin crew and the plane started taxing. Seconds from take off my cousin was still in the toilet. How courtious of them to wait for my cousin to take her seat before take-off. Luckily, for my cousin she made it to her seat before the aircraft was running at a super speed. Have you ever heard of such a thing in your life? The first hour of the flight went really slowly, as there was no entertainment. Well, we paid £300 for the flight, perhaps an inflight movie was too much to ask. The most annoying part of the whole flight was there was a radio fitted into our armchairs, but no sound came from it! What a waste of money! I started to feel dehydrated, and ill, so my cousin asked for a glass of water for me, the reaction from the airhostess was seriously unessesary it went something like "okay yes yes yes one minute" and a roll of the eyes. What the heck? She only asked once, and she asked very nicely too! 10 minutes of a glass of water, the boy who deliverd it was very plesent (dazling smile) and was very apoligetic for the wait. It felt so wonderful to find someone polite!

Sitting in the cabin reading over the Turkish magizine there was a load road from someone down the isle! A young boy started having an epileptic fit. The girls were screaming at eachother in Turkish to get things and they were putting cotton wool in his mouth, restraining him from bouncing, not making any effort to loosen his buttons. I was gobsmaked! They did everything we were told NOT to do in school. I was dying to run and help, but there was a sea of children gathering round to watch!. I will give the cabin crew their credit, they did put him into recovery postition afterwards. I was surprised that we didnt land, but, it turned out the boy was used to them and took them regulary.

30 minutes before decent meals were handed out. It appeared we hadent ordered a meal, and they wanted £15 each for a meal. I could have fed everyone traveling with me at McDonalds for £15. The meals didnt look too nice, however the people behind us complimented them. Just shows looks arn't everything! They did give us a free roll and soft drink. What we didn't know is all soft drinks were free. However, the cabin crew wernt too happy with you asking for them!

In my opinon the flight was dreadful, and just to put a cherry on top of the cake, our luggage just happened to be one of the luggage amoung that fourth load. There explination was "there was not enough weight for the aircraft to carry them", now do you understand me when I say those girls paying £100 for excess weight was unbelievable! and what was more unbelievable was i saw them both putting there bags onto the transfer bus. So 20 passengers cannot get there entitled alowance of weight however, those girls could get their entitled allowance of weight AND excess! I don't think so. No compensation, no apoligy, nothing. Well I couldn't say NOTHING. We did get our suitcases back, a week after we came home. Yep 3 weeks without luggage, No money, even my little sisters christmas presents! Thankyou for the wonderful flight Onur Air, and the very merry christmas!
