which was a delightful experience. I found the people working in the hotels to be very friendly and happy, OK you do get hassled in the shops but just be strict (and polite). You cannot fail to notice the security everywhere, it shocked me a bit when I first arrived. But you get used to walking through metal detectors and Sharm is now a very safe place to be. Naama Bay is policed by plain clothes cops and the crime rate is extremely low. I didn't expect the variety of restaurants and nighltife, a 3 course meal in TGI Fridays with drinks will cost around £10. Pascha nightclub was a good night out, we clubbed together and bought a couple of bottles of vodka to take in - we had to pay a high cover charge for this but it still worked out cheaper than buying drinks inside. Sharm el Shiekh - Dive in

Advantages: Weather, diving, friendliness, hotel stds and price
Disadvantages: Adjusting to Arab culture and being pestered

descend with my snorkel instead of my regs etc........It's easy done. The only thing you need to worry about is getting your back burnt as you will not want to go back to the beach. For diving you should expect to pay around £150 for a 5 day dive pack (tanks, weights and daily boat trips) with Nitrox included. I will do a separate review of the dive club we use. Should the worst occur there are excellent hospitals in Sarm el shiekh with a first rate decompression chamber on 24 hour call. The chamber doctors speak several languages and have special training in hyperbaric medicine to treat all diving related injuries. All divers are requested to make an optional contribution of 1 Euro per day of diving. This ALL goes to maintaining and improving the decompression facilities in the Sinai area. Sharm el Sheikh - first time impressions

Advantages: good value for money, the best for diving and snorkelling, friendly people

Me and my partner just returned from a 8 days holiday in Sharm el Sheikh (Naama Bay). It was a wonderful experience - please read our review. ********** BOOKING ********** We booked via lastminute.com just 4 days before we went there - at £ 179 per person for 7 nights a real bargain. Included were: - flight with Astraeus (charter airline) from and to Gatwick - 7 nights accommodation incl. breakfast in the Ocean Bay Hotel - transfer from and to the airport in Sharm el Sheikh Travel insurance is included in our bank account arrangements, so we didn't need to buy.
