If you want to sample authentic local food get out of Orchard Road and head to Newton Circus for hawker food, Chinatown for great Chinese food and Little India, the area around the Serangoon Road, for fiery South Indian and Vegetarian food. You will be amazed at the quality of the food and the very affordable prices.

If,however, you want to find bargains, unusual goods like crocodile skin handbags, and local arts and crafts, steer clear of Orchard Road. For Indian items go to the streets of Little India and for real bargains go to areas like Woodlands. Chinatown is another place where you can come across bargains.Arab Strret is another exotic enclave well worth exploring.
Like Blackpool, Orchard Road, always has brilliant lighting especially around Christmas and New Year and is worth a visit just to see the spectacular lighting. You will also find a goodly number of travel agents, tour companies, banks and foreign exchange dealers in this elegant,street-the main tourist belt of Singapore.
Advantages: conglomeration of shops all on 1 street Disadvantages: crowded
Orchard Rd is the most "famous" of all the shopping streets in Singapore. The main shopping centers are all on this street... Wisma Atria, Ngee Ann City (takashimaya), and further down plaza singapaura and the like. On this street u will be able to shop to your hearts content, no matter what your taste and budget in clothes is. For there is the low budget This Fashion, where tops range from S$5 upwards... that being less than 2 quid... to the branded ... ...from the frenetic atmosphere of Orchard rd (particularly on the weekends), there are many other shopping centers that will fufill your shopping needs...
in the suburban areas of singapore like tampines, bishan and yishun, there are many surburban malls which could cater to your shopping desires..... the atmosphere in these places is more relaxed and you will see many of the singapore heartlanders in these places.. these malls are also conviniently ...

Advantages: Never bored, lots of things to do and something to interest someone. Disadvantages: Too many shops!!! Hard to compare prices.
...case of walletis emptititis. Orchard road is a great place to go shopping. The entire road from Scotts road, is lined with shopping malls. I think that there are 43 of them in all. At last count. And there are lots of varieties of shops to go for. I tried to go for all the shops in one go, but there were too many. I think I only managed 5 or 6 malls in a day. Lets you know that one can spend a week roughly going through the shops with relative ease. ... ...brands in abundance there. Sales are also often to be had, especially the annual great Singapore Sale where prices are slashed left, right and center. This is usually in the month of July, and it lasts for the entire month. But a word to you prospective shoppers frothing the the mouths. It's when most if not all shops unload unwanted and unsold goods on us poor folk. And prepare for huge crowds there. If there's one sport bored housewives excel at, ...

Review of Orchard Rd (Singapore)
Advantages: Convenient.lots of hotels, restaurants, shopping complexes. Disadvantages: Expensive
Orchard Road,I would guess, is probably the best known road in Singapore, certainly among tourists who come to the Island republic from all parts of the world.
This is the Oxford Street or the Champs d'Elysee of this small city state and like the latter it is wide boulevard, very clean and magnificently maintained. It is full of smart hotels, one stop shopping complexes,up market eateries and US style fast food joints.
It is a very busy street and ... ...jay walking, the fines for doing so are very hefty in Singapore. For getting taxis or other means of transport the place is superb. To be frank it is not the street to get shopping bargains, for those you are better going off to the flea markets or browsing in the various ethnic enclaves in the city such as Arab Street,Little India or Chinatown. ...

Orchard Road is a world famous shopping paradise in Singapore. This long stretch of road is fulled of shopping archades, entertainment centre such as bowling, cinema and so on. Talking about the main attraction -- shopping, you can find virtually anything here, local brands or any expensive international ...

Advantages: Feels like home Disadvantages: More expensive
Wisma Atria has a little Brtish High Street corner in my opinion.
On level one above ground, you will find Warehouse, Kookai and Topman. Topshop is just above Topman.
There is also the cosmetic firm 'Lush' on ground floor.
1.Warehouse is a posh chain store in Singapore's market and you can find it in all the posh shopping centres in Singapore. I found the prices are slighty higher than in UK, about 10 pounds more. 2. Topshop markets itself as ... ...and the store really mirrors what the flagship London store looks like. From the decor to the giant screen TV to the AppleMac for internet browsing, not to mention the video games machine. There is also not much price differences, the clothes is just a little bit more expensive than in UK. Maybe 2 or 3 pounds more, that can be justify by the expensive shipping cost. In fact, there are lots of discounts and I bought a shirt from there for the equivalent ...
