Florida has got to be everyone’s dream holiday. Doesn’t matter what you are looking for , Florida has it.
I have been to Orlando three times and I still want to go back again. Every time I go back there’s something different there and new things to look at, it’s never the same.
Obviously the biggest attraction in Orlando is Disneyworld but this isn’t the only one! You have to visit Disneyworld but other theme parks include Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, Sea World, Kennedy Space Centre. And then there are all of the waterparks as well so there’s plenty to do.
Orlando is not only about theme parks though, there is the SHOPPING, which is my favourite pass time. I would suggest that you take hardly any luggage with you at all. You will buy so much in Florida because everything is so cheap. Average price of Levi’s is about £22, a bit different to what you would pay over here. And they fit as well, which is always a novelty for me. They go up (and down) to ridiculous leg lengths which is great for us tall people and they also have a very wide range of waist sizes. America is famous for it’s shopping malls, the Florida Mall is great to look around as is Belz Factory outlet. Both good places to get bargains!
The amount of places to eat in Florida is unbelievable. I suggest you have an all you can eat breakfast (usually about £5 with a drink) and make sure you eat enough to last you until tea time when you get a free all you can eat buffet with your meal. This means that you don’t have to stop in the middle of the day and waste precious shopping time. Florida all you can eat breakfasts are not like English ones. It’s not just ten bowls of cornflakes. We had a choice of all the usual cereals and bacon, sausage etc. Then you get cakes, toast, salad, fruit, more than you can think of. Then the all you can eat buffets in the evening. We had one night with an all you can eat steak night. All you can eat steak for £7.50, bargain.
American’s love the English, don’t know why but everyone over there is so friendly! Probably because they live off their tips which is another important thing in America. You have to tip everyone, and I mean everyone. When you eat at a restaurant make sure you leave tips on the table. Prices are very cheap so you can’t complain!
The weather in Florida will always be good. I have never been when it’s cold but I have heard it can be a bit chilly in December. We usually go in February when it’s about 25 degrees. This year though they were in the middle of a heatwave and the hottest day was 36 degrees. If you burn make sure you wear suncream, the sun is closer to the earth in Florida than it is here and you will get burnt quickly!
Accommodation then. We hired a villa for two weeks, this will cost about £350 a week for a three bedroom villa. You can fit eight people into one of these so that’s under £50 a week each. All villas in Florida are huge and you won’t be short of space, well worth the money. Hotels cost on average about £50 a night for a room which fits four people in it. After staying in both the villa is better value for money. Book direct with the people who own the villas to save money.
Flights to Orlando. In England not a great deal of airports near me, in the middle of nowhere in Cornwall, fly to Orlando. The nearest is Birmingham. Last time we flew with US Airways who I can highly recommend. Most amount of leg room I’ve had on a plane and with over eight hours on it you need the leg room.
Most people go to Florida for two weeks, which is still not enough. I wouldn’t even bother to go for one week. It won’t be a restful holiday if you want to see everything but it will be very enjoyable and something you will never forget.

Definitely there will be shopping during my trip to Orlando; however, I doubt Russell will appreciate sacrificing a day at the amusement parks for it. He's still annoyed over my insistance at spending a couple of days in St. Augustine. --AJF
