my wife and i have visited Orlando 4 times. Two out of the 4 were disasters. The parks are basicly for kids and teenagers. The oldies are not suited to the hoards of crowds. The food is also geared to the young. Ever seen an oldie in pondarosa.
The weather is also unpredictable, raining most days from mid afternoon. September is not a good month for decent weather, but the travel agents dont tell you that before hand.
Orlando has really nothing to offer old middle class english; hire a car or dont get anywhere.
Because it is flat there is no scenery to speak of. the nearest Beach is 60 miles or so, and again mainly full of youngsters. My wif and I are in our late fifties, and now looking for suitability elsewhere. Any suggestions.

I've never been to Orlando and, judging by your review, it doesn't look like a very nice place to go. However, I would like to know, as a young person myself, what IS there for me and if I would like these places or not. Chris :o)

I'm sorry to hear you didn't enjoy Orlando; however, it is the mecca of amusement parks, so if you don't enjoy them, it's a lousy place to go. It sounds like historic St. Augustine, which is a two-hour drive northeast from Orlando (and about an hour's drive south of Jacksonville), might have appealed to you more. They have some excellent B&Bs there. Now, what do you recommend for someone who's planning a trip to the UK? --Adrienne
