I am currently studying at the University of Southampton. Sadly, I am in my 3rd year, but on the upside will hopefully be graduating with a BA in English Literature in a few months. I enjoy travelling, reading and socialising with all my crazy friends!

I have now visited Orlando twice in my life once when I was 9 and then again last summer when I was 20. My memories of Orlando from when I was 9 were amazing, and I had such a magical time that I locked myself into a toilet cubicle on the day that we were leaving. Therefore, I was slightly worried about returning, and spoiling my childhood memories with what I imagined to be a significantly more cynical opinion of the tourist hotspot....this was not the case!
Orlando is definitely very expensive and very busy. This is particularly the case if you decide to visit all the parks! The average price for an adult to get in to one of the Disney theme parks (Magic Kingdom, MGM, Epcot, Animal Kingdom) is $60!However, on the upside the parks are brilliant, and make British theme parks seem like village fun-fairs in comparison! Most families will not have the time or money to experience every single attraction, so my recommendation would be to make sure to visit The Magic Kingdom, Universal Studios, Sea World and Blizzard Beach. These are the four that I consider unmissable!
Eating-out in Orlando can be as cheap or as expensive as you like, with thousands of places to chose from! There are a wide range of all-you-can-eat buffet restaurants, which are brilliant and cost just $10 for an adult.
I was in Orlando in August, however I do not believe this to be the best time of year to visit in terms of weather. It was definitely very hot and humid, but the weather seemed to follow a general pattern each day whereby it would be bright and sunny in the morning and early afternoon and then by about 3pm it would cloud over and become very stormy. Furthermore, August is the time of year that hurricane season starts! From having spoken to some of Orlando's residents, I got the impression that the best , and most predictable weather is between April and June.
The shopping in Orlando is also very good. If you are a keen shopper I would advise you to check out Florida Mall. The mall is huge, and contains all the classic American stores such as Abercrombie. There are also opportunities in the mall to get some good deals on park entrance deals.
Orlando is in a great location, and is only about an hour away from the coast. If you do decide to take a drive to the beach, I reccomend Cocoa Beach or New Smyrna. St. Augustine is also beautiful, but takes an extra hour to get there. I would avoid the famous Daytona beach! It is over-crowded, over-rated and dirty!
Overall, Orlando is a fabulous holiday destination, and I believe that everyone needs to visit at least once in their life!

There is so much to Orlando. I live in Tampa and go over for around 4 weeks a year. Did you get to the outlet malls, fleamarkets, or Old Town? The list just goes on and on. Susie.

There is much more to Orlando, In fact Disney World is actually in Kissimmee ! Would be good to see more infromation about all the other attractions eg. Universal, Slingshot, Nightshows, Entertainment on International Drive etc. Also you could mention how easy or difficult it is to get around. Av

Advantages: Easy transport links, nearby airports, great attractions for all the family, shopping, swimming, sports, sun, sea and sand Disadvantages: can be very crowded at the theme parks in peak time, can also be quite expensive however depends on where you stay and when you go
