We booked our Florida Luxury Villa vacation via Cosmos Holidays and as it was our first time to Florida we really did not know what to expect. There were four of us on this trip, my wife, 2 kids (18 & 20) and myself and we decided to go self catering in a luxury villa in Orlando.
We had an early start as we had to be at Gatwick airport for an 0500 check-in. We were flying with Monarch Airlines and had upgraded our seats to Premium as both my son and I are rather broad shouldered and we felt that we would be more comfortable with the additional space. Everything went to plan and we arrived safely at Orlando Sandford. After collecting our luggage we set off to collect our hire car. We had booked via Cosmos and were told to report to the Alamo desk which we duly did. The Alamo staff were not particularly cheerful but we collected our car and set off on the 60 minute drive to our villa.
The Villa was excellent, we had seven bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, games room, private pool and full air conditioning.. Superb.
Over the following two weeks we visited some of the main Florida attractions such as Disney Land and Great Universal Studios. We had a day crocodile spotting on Airboats in the Everglades and went on a sea life conservation boat trip in Clearwater Bay. The attractions are all excellent and a far cry from our home grown attempts.
The Food in Florida was good if you were prepared to search out the good restaurants. There are numerous fast-food eateries which are ok every now and again but a couple of days you start to crave vegetables!
The roads and driving may appear daunting if you are not used to left hand drive but the signage is good and you master it in no time.
The Shopping Malls are also superb; none of the crowds and no problems parking... Everything is so large and spacious.
The whole Florida experience has left us wanting to go back soon. We all found the experience relaxing and revitalizing. Even Downtown Orlando felt spacious and airy.
