...there is to offer. There are untold restaurants about 5 minutes walk away, with many bars & pubs, a few english pubs also. Plenty of shops ranging from clothes, leathers & souvenirs. The hotel lies just far enough away from the center so it is very quiet , even in the evening. There is evening entertainment which i would say is more catered for small children, & pool games is laid on by the staff daily, mainly pool volley ball. There is also pool towel hire for a small deposit. There is an indoor pool also & a gym. There are a few small sandy beaches near by, the best one is esmeralda beach, being the biggest one out of the others which serve drinks & snacks. This beach is about a 10 min walk from the hotel, & has plenty of sun loungers with grass parasoles, but are chargeable for a small fee. The main center of cala d'or all closes by midnight, so... Advantages: A landmark hotel
Disadvantages: It's a long way from home

...quickly to the new time zone  you will arrive in the day time when the airport is less busy and clear immigration, baggage and customs more quickly  you are more likely to have your wits about you and be less vulnerable to the airport touts, people trying to run off with your luggage etc.  you won't have to pay for an extra night hotel accommodation or risk turning up so early that the hotel leaves you in the lobby for hours whilst they wait for a room to become available Conversely for your return flight, most of the airlines fly out either between midnight and 2 or 3 am or, if you are changing in the Middle East, typically at around 5-7 am. Advantages: 4 star hotel with choice of excellent dining
Disadvantages: No pool, no parking, no garden

...In need of a short break we decided to visit Jersey and chose the Pomme D'or, a 4 star hotel in St Helier. It overlooks Liberation Square and a yacht marina, that way we had the coast, museums, shops and plenty of places to eat without having to travel far, as we had been told driving in Jersey could be challenging due to the very narrow roads. All in all we were very pleased with our choice, and the great thing was the weather was brilliant even in October! Arrival ******* A taxi was booked and waiting for us at the airport, and treated us to the scenic route as there had been a major accident blocking the main road. We pulled up at the hotel about 30 minutes later, and before we could get out, our cases were being taken into the hotel, and we were lead to the reception, where, very efficiently the check in took place, our credit...
