Advantages: Beautiful hotel and friendly staff Disadvantages: You have to book a long time in advance!
the service and standard of the rooms is excellent at the Rufus House. You have to stay a minimum of 2 nights at the weekend, this is a standard policy across most hotels in the New Forest, and for bank holidays, valentines day etc. you have to book pretty far in advance as it gets booked up extremely quickly! I think they have quite a few regular customers who return year after year.
It's in a perfect location if you're visiting the new forest - Lyndhurst is the main thoroughfare of the Forest so you'll have easy access to everywhere, and its a nice little town in itself with a numbe rof pubs and restaurants including italian, chinese and indian. ...
Advantages: Posh hotel, it looks nice, but... Disadvantages: The staff
I went to stay here in 2006, I think. For my sisters wedding. It was a nice hotel, the architecture inside I knew wasn't real, but it was meant to look posh. Which it did, but only in one room... the reception. So, I stayed here for two days and one night. I didn't sleep on a proper bed, because the room was full in which I was sleeping in (Since its a wedding and all). So in the corner of the room, I had to sleep on a horrible, tiny, lumpy bed. Which can be folded again into a bag. Of course, I can't blame the hotel for the poor bed, because this was my own fault. I'm sure that if there weren't so many people I could of slept on the double bed, which is better.

Advantages: Value for money, service, restaurant Disadvantages: Drive is on a very steep hill!
I've just got back from a long weekend in the Lake District. You might question the wisdom of going to the Lakes for a weekend of watersports and outdoor activities in wintry March, and you'd be right to do so! However, the gale force winds, hail and snow were made bearable by the excellent Hillthwaite HouseHotel where we were staying. The hotel was an absolute haven!
Basics
The hotel is a family run business and has about thirty rooms. We were staying on a special weekend offer and paid £185 each for three nights, including bed, breakfast and dinner. The hotel is in Windermere and is about a fifteen minute drive from the M6. It has a swimming pool, sauna and steam room.
Getting There
The hotel had sent a brochure after I booked on the phone and the brochure had a map on the back so I wasn't expecting any ...
