Convenience at half the price
Advantages: Good location for trains, good offers at Easter, nice breakfast Disadvantages: In a rough area of Oslo
...Then we found that The Comfort Hotel in Boersparken, Oslo, was offering half price rooms. Rather than 1400KRO (just over £130), we would be able to pay just over £60 each per night for five nights. This might not sound like a cheap option but in Oslo and during April, we found this to be the most reasonable price.
Everything checked out fine and we booked our room, specifying a non-smoking double bedroom. I feel it is important to mention at this ... ...of us had our own. Comfort Hotel, as with many, does not accept debit cards or any other form of payment.
So April came, and we set out excited to the airport with our luggage and romantic expectations. Two flights , one which was delayed, and a trainride into Oslo later, and we had finally reached our destination. Outside it was dark and cold and we walked over to a taxi. He wanted to charge us about thirteen pounds to take us to Comfort Hotel, ...

Location, location, location
Advantages: Very central location, ideal for public transport and exploring the city Disadvantages: Can be noisy as it is so near the main station
...Still, the website for the Rica Oslo seemed promising and the hotel itself looked pretty smart, which in some cities is not always a given for accommodation so close to the main station. The location of this hotel is without doubt its greatest asset: no more than 5 minutes' walk separate the platforms for the Flytoget (Oslo airport express train) from the Rica Oslo reception desk. You head out of the front of the train station, cross the tram tracks ... ...The website for the Rica Hotels chain states that it is corporate policy to 'to welcome our hotel guests in the same manner as we would a dear guest in our own home' and I can confirm that the staff at the Rica Oslo were unfailingly friendly and polite, even when confronted with an unwanted visitor demanding to use what he regarded as the public toilets in the basement on the morning of my departure. The ground floor also houses the lobby bar, to ...

Norlandia Oslo Airport Hotel
Advantages: Breakfast was ok Disadvantages: not close to the airport, small rooms, smelled funny, shower doors broken
...We chose the Norlandia hotel since it was called ‘Norlandia Oslo Airport Hotel’ and therefore thought it was a good choice since it was close to the airport. This was where my first gripe with the hotel came from.. once we had arrived we had to take a shuttle bus to get to the hotel, this cost us 60kr each one way (around £6) The airport is infact not so close to the hotel and took a 10 minute bus ride! In the morning we had to take the bus again, ... ...and from this ‘Airport Hotel’. Once we got to the hotel, checking in was easy. All we had to do was hand them out hotel booking confirmation we had been emailed and we were given our room key card. Despite there being two of us, we were only given one card. This was not a problem since we were only staying there overnight, but if we had been staying for longer I think one key card per person would have been better. Our room was on the third floor, ...

The only serious choice
Advantages: Position, great staff, facilities, access, communications. Disadvantages: Can't think fo one right now.
...your windows? I have.
Quality Airport Hotel Gardermoen is 8 minutes by "flybus" to Gardermoen. The bus costs 60 Norwegian krones each way. It took me LESS THAN A MINUTE to get from my ground floor room to the bus top for the "flybus". Buses are frequent and with Gardermoen airport (OSL) being a well run, organised airport, as long as YOU are organised and use the electronic check in machines as you enter the terminal, you can drop of your luggage ... ...15 minutes after leaving your room.
Great staff, no aircraft noise, great facilities, 8 minutes from the airport. There's really no competition. The hotel keeps on expanding but just gets bigger conferences booking themselves in there and has to make plans to expand again. The sign of a product that's more than competing! Every time I go there, I see the same companies having conferences there. It seems the hotel has a hardcore of customers who ...

Affordable Oslo
Advantages: Free breakfast, Free wifi, Affordable Disadvantages: Fire alarm, No tea making fac. in rooms
...it was to book with Best Western direct - so take this into account if you're planning on visiting here. We stayed here for five nights and the weekend nights were given to us at a discounted rate, which was nice. Overall it worked out cheaper than staying in most hotels in other capital cities (for example London) which we were quite impressed with seeing as Norway is reputed as being one of the most expensive places to go in the world.
Arriving ... ...hotel itself has a big Best Western sign and is pretty straightforward to get into once you've actually found it. The reception area was lovely and warm and festively decorated. We decided to see if we could check in early on the off chance that our room would be free and it was! The staff were really nice about this and didn't charge us extra for arriving 3 hours early.
We were on level 8 and there are two lifts in reception, so we decided to take ...
